My entry for bi-weekly competition Themed- 2011 A New BeginningPlot: Back in 1989 The European Government aquired all the land owned by poor civilians and promised them a better town in return.
After 22 years of anticipation and restless waiting, living in slums hanging of cables, the civilians can't believe their eyes when they see the big gates creaking open.......

I'll vote for you mate, because your work is the only work in the competition that actually resembles the basic thought of conceptual art. I am not saying, that there's big or major flaws in the other works, but so often the works in these contests look more to me like book -illustrations to me.
Concept art should look like and idea made to exist in further media, games or movies. That's my opinion, of course, but it has troubled me during these contests.
But, as I said, your work in this contest resembles the idea of environmental concept art the most. I hope that you'll have a lot of luck and favor in the contest!!! Well done!

Even though I end up at the bottom of the voting list I always try and put a new spin
to the contest and take myself somewhere I've never been before.
I started to doubt my style but you're comment made me realise that I should stick
to my own style, it'll surely get better over time.

Looks good so far. The only part that confuses me is the black border around the top edges with the wires hanging down. It just seems out of place since there's no foreground to really show me where they're coming from.

Totally agree, I just wanted to frame the image at the end so I placed those wires.
I'll try and link them with the illustration next time.

It came out of rough lines which makes it harder to understand.

Bit of both, the back a newly constructed city and the front is slums hanging of a cable. I really wish I had spend more time refinning the sillouehettes on the slums.
