Took a lot of sketches to get the proportions the way i wanted them. And a lot of palette tests for the colors.
Could you guys tell me what you think of this character? Like what kind of traits you think it might have, what impression it gives you. And if there's anything you think I should change or add.

Looks like a cross between a rabbit and a deer to me. I love its face ;o; I think the eyes look a little sinister though. I get the feeling you want it to be a good character? The goat eyes are often used for satanic things/demons. In my experience anyway. But I love the colors. I think the blue-green looks lovely with those magenta hooves.

About the horizontal pupils, that's what deer naturally have so I don't want to change it. And I've seen some artists make them look really cute. I suppose they're kinda creepy because it's hard to tell what direction the animal is looking, and as a result, horizontal pupils are less expressive than vertical or round pupils.
I think once I start drawing more facial expressions of this character, people can start to relate to them more. We'll see.
