Description
I've sat here listening to those old wordsReviewing every ancient memory
While they echo in the caverns of a wilted psyche
Lost in the balance of sense and emotion
Pulling the levers; exacting the fulcrum
In effort to find the peace of mind
Fractured by insecurity
For some moments, the sounds are far
Giving time to adjust the scales
Patiently I nudge the weights
Questioning every measure and value
Only to be stifled by the dread of the looming void
That engulfs my workspace as I tinker away
Turning the gears; adjusting the plates
As clarity starts to come to focus
All while still fearing the inevitable
Just as I think I've found the right proportions
Allowing the harmony I've so long desired
It once again returns, through the silence
Those mocking tones of years gone by
The voice seems so familiar, almost luring
Trading one frantic nature for another
As I start to realign the scales
To suit the swayer's whim
Impatiently bashing the levers
To the ever growing sounds
Spinning the gears, throwing the plates
The pain of “truth” blinds me
As I bang my head on the fulcrum
Till only the heart's chaos remain
Just as the voices and memories fade
Into the echos once more I peer
Looking around at the ruins
Knowing full well what to expect
As I once more start again
