See, I told you I will make something for #mermay !
This was really fun to make - I was really inspired by the model's photo, and I still struggle a bit with creating a realistic submerged effect, so I got to try out lots of different techniques. It's also one of the works that gain a life of its own during working on them - this was never supposed to be as bloody as it turned out to be!
Wasn't sure whether or not I should tag it with MC because of the blood, though - let me know if you think I should!

I really like it, looks incredible. I love the light reflections in the water which somehow look like lightning bolts all around her.
What I think could improve the submerged effect is to emphasize the areas where the water hits her body. I would paint in more fine ripples with a faint light brush here and there. I think you did well already with her tail - it just becomes a little fizzy around her clothing and hair (those areas are tough, I know..). Hope this helps! Wonderful work Marta!

lol @ a piece taking a life of its own. I know how that goes! I think this is a fantastic turn of vision. The title itself caused me to click on it immediately, and it didn't disappoint!
I love the idea behind a mermaid dying...looking at her scales falling off. I don't think I've seen that before on DA - which is always a great thing to know about your art
The submerged tail is top notch too...the thin line dividing underwater blurriness looks pretty real.
The only thing I feel is off is the blue scales on her face. You warped them really well around the facial curves, but I Dunno...maybe I'm just not a fan of scales on my fantasy women? lol That's a preference thing, I guess
