I love how this is so different from the movies. I am not a big fan of characters drawn with the likeness of the movie/TV show actors and highly appreciate the works with artist's own imagination. This is my favorite Thranduil painting now!

I like this... I though it was said during summer he would wear a crown of leaves so was surprised the movie had the twigs/berries...which I thought was the winter crown... or was I wrong?

Is it bad to say that I care more about how Lee Pace portrays Thranduil than I do the rest of the movie? I care, but I fear what Jackson can do. Even what happened to Celeborn was not as bad as some of the other characters!
Sorry! My thoughts are running away with me. I love your picture. It makes you see that elven kings (Thingol, Oropher, etc.) still were around at the time of the ring.

Fabulous picture!! It is so good to find an artist that portrays the Elves with the beauty that Tolkien intended. As I said in another comment on another one of your pictures, some artists portray them as almost ugly. I know they have a right to their artistic license, but it fair breaks my heart because that is NOT what Tolkien intended. But that of course is if you have read the books. Sometimes, I wonder about some of these people. Maybe they just intend it as a joke, IDK.

Very stern rendition. This would be the Dwarves' eye view, or Legolas's after letting a few arrows go where they oughtn't to have gone. Some of you guys really DO get it about Tolkien's elves.
