Description The Love Story of Uzumaki Kuuya & Namikaze Mitsuko

Part One: Wrong Footing

--

Part Two: Unrequited - [link]

Part Three: "Damn it..." - [link]

------

Kuuya: MaleKushina

Mitsuko: FemMinato

------

I've been working on this for a while, ever since I watched the 4th Shippuden movie actually, and it's been a long WIP, but I'm glad to have it drawn out, so you guys can finally see their Love Story of sorts. Lol. It's not exactly like the original, of course, but isn't that the point?...

------

NOTE: If you remember, Kakashi stated, during the Gaara Rescue Arc, that all jinchuuriki tend to have about the same life, no matter where they come from. I think that's been true since the beginning, even if we haven't had that much of a glimpse into the life of early jinchuuriki. They are all looked upon differently and have to struggle for some form of acceptance. Whether they discover those precious people who will see them only as their selves and not the host of a demon is all up to them.

This is my opinion, at least, but keep that in mind when reading.

---

BackStory:

The story starts with a young Uzumaki Kuuya arriving at the Konoha Ninja Academy, having recently moved to Konoha a short time ago.

He is brought before his classmates and asked by the teacher to introduce himself. After glancing over the unfamiliar faces, he decides to make a big impression and loudly proclaims, despite having only just become a citizen of Konoha, that he will become the next Hokage. He is, of course, laughed at for having such a large, impossible dream, and it is at this point that Kuuya is first singled out for teasing and ridicule, mostly for his bright red hair, which when coupled with his round face gives him the appearance of a tomato, as his classmates claim, and he is quickly nicknamed "Tomato," to Kuuya's immense displeasure.

Kuuya is also a bit on the short side at this point, leading to many jeers about his height, which serves to piss him off. He won't begin with his growth spurts until 13 or 14, in which he will become quite tall for his age until he finally hits his adult height of 6'0".

Back to the Academy classroom, one by one, the rest of the students are made to introduce their selves until one little girl stands at her turn and proclaims a dream more impossible than Kuuya's.

It is this day that Namikaze Mitsuko smiles and expresses her dream of becoming the first female Hokage of their village. She says this so sweetly and with such frankness that Kuuya finds himself taking a sudden and strange dislike to this girl, this weak, pathetic little Crybaby, who he's certain would flake at the first sign of trouble. Kuuya's initial impression is sour, and with his stubborn nature, it will take him many years to change it.

However, things are different on Mitsuko's end. As time goes on, she begins to develop a fierce crush on the red-headed boy. She admires him greatly, for his confidence, for his perseverance, even his loud, angry retorts in class and his ability to speak his mind, whether anyone cares to hear it or not.

Sweet, little Mitsuko is helplessly crushing and crushing BAD on a boy who glares at her for no reason and seems to dislike her without having even spoken to her, and though Mitsuko doesn't understand it, she continues to watch him and like him, wondering how anyone could dislike him for that messy red hair she finds... well, cute.

During all this time, though, Kuuya discovers the reason for why he was brought to Konoha.

He is to become the 9-tails jinchuuriki, replacing the previous one. This terrifies Kuuya, and though he tries to be tough about it, the former jinchuuriki, Uzumaki Mito, convinces him that he doesn't have to be and then comforts him as he sobs into her lap. She dies a short time later when the Kyuubi is removed from her and sealed into Kuuya.

It is at this point that people begin to look at Kuuya differently. He's even treated a bit differently too. It's not... necessarily a bad different. However, that's not to say it's all good. It's a variation with both ends of the spectrum, just as it is with most every issue in the world. Everyone believes different things, and thus, not everyone's new treatment of Kuuya is completely warm.

Kuuya's no longer Kuuya anymore; he's the 9-tails Jinchuuriki now.

And Kuuya hates it, because some people simply act as if he isn't there --perhaps because they don't know how to treat him or perhaps because they dislike what he is-- and the teasing and torment from some of the other students has gotten worse as a result.

Kuuya hates this distance, this difference, and his red hair only serves to help people further recognize him as the container for the Kyuubi, enhancing the new treatment and stares he is given, which only makes him hate his hair more.

The ever perceptive Mitsuko immediately picks up on all of this and feels her heart go out to the boy she likes and admires so greatly. He is still Kuuya; nothing has changed.

She doesn't think otherwise until she witnesses one incident when the teasing of two boys goes too far.

What they said, Kuuya forgets, but finally having reached the end of his rope, after all the teasing, after all the new stares and whispers, after all the new, different treatment he has received, Kuuya's temper flares and he just SNAPS and flies into a furious rage. He pummels those boys with fire in his eyes and fury in his heart, and Mitsuko watches on in horror as they cry for mercy.

Kuuya has always been a little short-tempered and confrontational --he's gotten into more fights than can be counted and taken down many a boy not only bigger than him, but older too and come out on top-- but nothing like this.

This is the encounter that will lead him to no longer be called "Tomato," but the "Bloody Habenero" instead; not for his bright red hair as with his female counterpart, but for the blood pouring from both terrified boys' noses as they flee and the blood spattered upon the ground around them during and after the fight as a result.

To the other children, this is as incredible as it is horrifying and Kuuya is as respected as he is feared. This makes Kuuya even more alienated and different, and it is no wonder he flees so shortly after, though he can't help but wonder later why seeing the fear in that blonde Crybaby's eyes affects him most.

Perhaps because she was the only one to smile not laugh when he proclaimed his dream, and it was he she chose to sit beside, despite how much he glared or scowled and blatantly showed his dislike of her, returning his harsh expression with that same small smile, and it was she in their class who had continued sitting by him and smiling, treating him no differently than before, even though everything had changed, as if nothing had changed...

But Kuuya does not recognize this and only becomes sullen and angry as he finds himself wandering about until all have left the Academy, and it is there that he seats himself on the small wooden swing that has and will become familiar to him over the years, and though he does not know it, to his daughter in the future.

After overcoming her shock at Kuuya's violent actions and the look he had given her before fleeing --the eyes as crimson as his hair with the slitted pupils, the elongated canines, but mostly those eyes, those eyes that were not Kuuya's, could never be Kuuya's-- Mitsuko instantly goes off in search of Kuuya, worried for him, yes, but also compelled to do so for reasons she can't fully name, especially when she should be so, so very frightened after what he had just done.

She eventually comes across him, not far from where they had first started --the fight having been more in the forest near the Academy where the teachers couldn't see-- in front of the Academy in that lonely, old swing. Kuuya recognizes her presence, and as low and sullen as he's feeling, he calls her out, annoyed by her being there and wondering why she would be there, what she wants.

Instead of answering his question, Mitsuko silently observes him, not knowing what to say, especially since she has never spoken to him before.

Mistaking the pain and sympathy in her eyes for pity, the somewhat-prideful Kuuya snaps at her, lashing out in a second emotional build-up similar to the one before, sick of being looked at and treated differently, hating that even she now seems to be doing the same. He then shoves past her and flees, leaving a silent Mitsuko in his wake.

To be continued in Part Two...

I did a similar Fanfic, who mainly tells the events during the Kyuubi attack and Narutos Birth. But the ending is different than in the original plot.

O_o Dude. The young and charmingly hot-blooded Kushina turned into an angry emo when she 63'd. XD Damn. But this is probably what would happen if Kishimoto had switched her gender. He seems to care more about how men feel - Kushina was an easy nut to crack, being female in Kishi's male-dominated world. All she needed to erase all her pain was for the decidedly 2D, no-personality Minato to screw her and knock her up. After all; bearing children is all a woman needs to calm her down. ;]

This is a sweet story from you, Kio! I love the comic format!

Would love to see M-Kushina grown and interacting kindly that one time with his daughter, even if the whole 'meeting dead parents' thing was painfully lame to me. <3 M-Kushina really has potential to be an awesome fella!

Lol. Yeah, pretty much. I didn't mean to make him like that. It just kinda... happened. This was actually just supposed to be doodles of their little GB!Selves, not their Love Story, but I kept going and it kind of evolved...

Thank you.

*grins* I would love to do that, but it's kind of... complicated. I can't explain why without revealing anything. I'm still keeping the 'meeting dead parents,' but it's slightly different...

I'm very glad it did! It's come out so lovely and sweet~!

Oooh, that sounds really interesting... X3 am I allowed 'spoilers' or must I wait until a comic/story comes of it? ;D

Thank you again.

Lol. I'm afraid I'm trying to keep the Spoilers to a minimum. I have a Fanfic planned, and I'd like to have at least a few of my changes to still be "Surprise!" moments.

... You made Kuuya the 4th Hokage instead of Mitsuko, didn't you?

If I'm correct, then I'm... not sure how to feel about that one, really. Part of me is seriously thinking it's a kind of sexist development, incidentally flipping them but the STILL making the male end in the relationship the one who becomes Hokage.

And noo, I will NOT accept the hiding of the relationship (and that the Hokage was to have a child at ALL) as an excuse - it could EASILY be claimed that Mitsuko's child still died that night. I mean, given how Nariko looks, it's already baffling enough that nobody seemed to connect the dots before being outright told by those who knew. Surely you don't need to demote F-Minato just to use M-Kushina as a smokescreen?

If I'm wrong about this, I apologise. If not... well, to be candid I'm more that a little angry about it.

Love the story. Can't help but feel sad by it though...
Just a little question, if mitsuko want's to be the first female hokage does that mean you didn't gb'ed the other three hokages?
Can't wait to read the rest of the story. ^_^

Gemkio In reply to HavingMercy [2011-05-28 02:27:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. And I know, right? Kuuya is such a jerk to her in the beginning. (No, seriously, he really is. Just wait until you get to Part Two. It gets worse. )

No, I did not Gender Bend the first three Hokages. They're too old, you see. I have these... guidelines of sort to keep me from Gender Bending myself to death, and one of the rules I have set is that I do not GB anyone older than the Sanin's time. (Over the Age of 50 in Part One, that is.) The only exception is Kakuzu, but that was an error on my part, as I was not aware that Kakuzu was 91 when first GB'ing the Akatsuki.

I can't wait to get it posted!

Kuuya-Kun!D< Dun' be mean to sweet little Mitsuko! She just wants to be your friend, and she's doing an adorable little buzzy in love face, and you cuss her and shove her to the side like trash?Well,if Kio-Chan lets me,I will have the right mind to smack you! You seem a lot like your daughter's gb counterpart, only more-so tempered, less on the mischief. But,this is nice, and I look for more!

And I see Kuuya's little 'I love you' face, and I can really relate, but great job!
