Description ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 3, 2013) An F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the Jolly Rogers of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 103 launches from the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) . Eisenhower departed Naval Station Norfolk on a regularly-scheduled deployment in support of Maritime Security Operations and Theater Security Cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. If you can read the description, it clearly says that Seaman Brian Wilbur took the photo, Facebook is where I got this photo. It is a US-Navy photo, released under public domain copyright. All photos taken by military personnel are under public domain.

I know that Brian Wilbur took the photo. I was asking how YOU acquired it - but I guess that's been answered now. Is it allowed? I mean this image is by the US Navy, after all, so shouldn't there be any prohibition from spreading certain materials concerning the military such as this to the public? Just asking.

No all military photos taken by US military personnel when published are released to the public domain.  

Definition of public domain ~ "The state of belonging or being available to the public as a whole, and therefore not subject to copyright."
