Description Lady Grey?

Not sure about the face for this one, Not my ideal shall we say? Still my kind of girl!

Fashion is loosely based on the Countess of Mar. There's a fantastic painting of her in 'Dressed to Kill' a book on Royal Navy uniforms of the 1740's to the 1850's.

Hope you like it.

No stays, wow, "brave" lass. o.o So your kind of girl shouldn't wear stays, she should have pretty face, red hair, carry a weapon with her and what else? Anyway lovely one! You actually have now drawn a woman in 18th century dress and not in man's uniform! :'D

ahahahahha, well maybe thats my kind of girl!? LOL. I do have a thing for redheads, but i like blonds and brunettes equally much.

I'm planning a more ladylike dress/character soon!

I actually thought 'Ah, that reminds me of the picture of a woman in uniform-inspired clothes in Dressed to kill' when I saw the thumbnail for this. Countess of Mar, as you said. Damn inspiring book.

Lovely drawing!

Love that book, though i've commisioned an Army uniform c1775 rather than a naval one - oddly enough i have a full set of replicas for Nelsons medal stars, but his coat was going to set me back around £800!!! My Army one will cost £250 or less.

Quite a price difference! But you'd probably look very good in either.

I'm having serious thoughts about making a coat inspired by the period, but there is another project I might embark upon soon... Have a colleague who's willing to lend me a pattern for a Carolean coat - copied from an original Carolean coat at The Royal Armoury in Stockholm. Not really my favourite time period when it comes to fashion, but I quite like the Caroleans.

Am not into re-enactment of any kind so I'd use the pattern to make civilian clothes with a different range of colours. Irreverent, I know. I'd just like bring some historical fashion into the every-day modern world. Pretty hard if you live in a small industrial town in Sweden... But I persist in wearing my tricorne to work every now and then.

Those Carolean's look great! Go for it! Have you seen a recent russian film called "the sovereigns servant?" I've seen some clips on Youtube, and there's Caroleans by the tonne!

hahahahahaha good on you for wearing the Tricorne!!!

My collegue can't find the pattern! Am getting somewhat irritated.

No, I havn't seen it. Perhaps I should.

Thanks! I'll post a picture of it soon.

I can possibly dig a pattern out of the internet for you - it's not massively different from british uniforms of the era...

Idzit In reply to GeneralVyse [2009-05-04 18:05:01 +0000 UTC]

Turns out the bastards formatted her harddrive anyway, for no particular reason. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! That makes me want to hit them over the head with their own leg. I told her she should call them and tell them NOT to format it because it's not necessary. You can reinstall Windows on top of an old version and it will correct itself or install a newer version. She lost everything and it wasn't even necessary. I hate the wannabe-geeks working at large electronics stores. They don't know anything. She could go to someone and use a data-recovery program, but that'll cost alot of money.

I would DIE without my photoshop...

HAHAHAHAHAHA they're wonderful! We swore by them at university, i love the unpredictable nature of them; also, you can use them as crude T-shirt printing presses! Rub a little cellulose thinners on the print out, stick it on a shirt and press and the ink transfers onto the t-shirt! Parfait!
