Personality: Diffident and non-chalant generally. Somewhat aloof but without pomposity he has an air of faded nobility. He cares deeply for humanity but keeps it cloaked under a façade of indifference. He is somewhat bitter about the loss of Malta to the French and strives continually to undermine the French though knows to leave the ordinary French soldier alone (His deep rooted distrust of the French is aimed principally at Officers).

Wilmore is Multilingual speaking English, German, French, Italian, Arabic, some Spanish and Portuguese and a few other dialects, but principally the line “Hello I love you”. He is not only a master of languages but also of disguise, he can blend easily into any scene and has a profound understanding of most Mediterranean cultures. He tends to wear unobtrusive black clothes supplemented with dust ponchos and capes.

He spends his free time sketching and writing out his thoughts and is often found wandering along the coastline or deep in the various markets and Taverns of each of the Cities in Tarquinitia. He is not averse to Alcohol but has been known to indulge himself in the right company but never more than is ‘safe’ as he puts it.

History:

Born to English parents Lord Algernon Wilmore and Lady Jane Wilmore, then touring Rome in 1772 he enjoyed a privileged childhood visiting many of the classical cities of Europe and enjoying a rich education. He was sent away to some of the best Swiss schools in 1776 where he studied Architecture and Engineering, however he found his studies dull and found the tales of the American war much more interesting, being found, often at lunchtimes, urging his fellow Scholars in mock battles between the Minutemen and Redcoats. He remained in Switzerland until 1786 by which time his father had become a Diplomat to the Vatican In Rome. He rejoined his father and spent 6 months running wild and causing havoc. Despite this rowdy behaviour it was through his fathers connections in Rome that he was enrolled in 1787, at the age of 15, in the Knights of Malta as an Ensign.

In January of 1789 his father was recalled to Britain and soon dispatched to France to try and observe the Political tumult. He was again recalled in June of that year when The French Revolution took a firm hold on Paris.

Lady Jane had remained in Italy with Friends since January, and, concerned for her husband, she sailed for England in March of that year. The ship was lost with all Hands having been last seen being carried off into the broad Atlantic by a Storm off Gibraltar.

Alexander had by then been gazetted as a Lieutenant and his penchant for action and no little skill as an Officer had seen him placed in the 2nd Line company of the Knights Infantry. This section saw some small action 1792 engaging Pirates in a combined venture with The Italian and British Royal Navies on the Barbary Coast. He was made Brevet Captain, when the Captain of his Platoon was wounded in action and lead several successful raids against the Indigenous population and Pirate enclaves.

On his return he was returned to Lieutenant and mediocrity but was finally promoted to Full Captain in 1794 at the age of 22. He served well but life in the Order was Dull. He was Allowed leave to visit Egypt in 1795 and spent some years touring the far east and visiting the holy land where there was an enclave of the Order of Malta.

He was crucial in the establishment of a new battalion near modern day Tel Aviv, but this militarization also drew increasing hostility from the indigenous Arab populace. While the enclave offered protection and trade for the Immediately adjoining tribes, other Tribes jealous of the Competition united against the Order and made open war against it. At first this consisted of guerrilla attacks but in 1796 it graduated into a siege.

The Order held on for several months but was ultimately driven out with heavy losses, The survivors escaping in the night via one of the few remaining ships in Port. His return to Malta though following a disastrous campaign was riotous. He was welcomed by many as a hero for having one back some of the Orders lost honour over the centuries since Crusaded. The Elders of the Order however were less than pleased and he was sent home to England on Compassionate Leave.

It was of course in 1798 that Napoleon took Malta during his expedition to Egypt.

At this time Wilmore began working with his father in the Diplomatic Corps and Liaising with the British Army and Navy abroad. It was in this faculty that he was despatched to Tarquinitia while his father, who’s health was failing, remained in England. His father is now a Minor member of Parliament for Wessex

Wilmore found the Political Atmosphere in Tarquinitia stifling and the perpetual diplomacy and cow towing somewhat depressing, however with the Addition of Forces from the Distant Caribbean Islands of Devia he felt sure some more aggressive negotiation may be at hand.

Sounds like fun! If only I thought I could join back in to MOW and still have an actual (as opposed to virtual) life.
