Description Space Ninja stuff.

Here are some characters that are "Not Space Ninjas".
The Old Man's shirt says "laughing gas".

And an exciting announcement soon. (!)

Space Ninja? It's funny, the English translation sounds rather ridiculous, but many of the kanji readings sound quite poetic, depending on the reading - I rather like Kuunin.

You're really doing a good job of keeping your audience off balance. Such somber characters, but hilarious quasi-names. A silly title evokes thoughts of ninjas in space suits, but the kanji used are deadly serious. "Space" or "sky" is actually one of my very favorite kanji owing to it's varied meaning and artistic construction. And "nin," of course, is the infamous heart-under-blade. I'm eager to hear this announcement, and to see the advancement of this idea.

Aha! Yeah, I was pretty pleased with myself when I decided on that kanji construction.

"空" suggests void or emptiness as well as sky (and sometimes outer space)-- and I like the ambiguous reading. I'm thinking of the lead character in terms of the "Man with No Name" archetype, so it's appropriate.

Thanks for the support on it, though. I never know when an idea that seems cool to me actually translates (so to speak).

I've always liked how 空 is designed so that the eye is drawn not to the lines that compose it, but the emptiness that dominates the center of the character. Such a fitting kanji.

Men With No Names are much easier to manage in comic-format than simple written words. And given how much you've been able to express already with (I think) no dialog whatsoever, I think that a protagonist with no name will suit the story just fine.

I'll be looking forward to the story itself, of course, but also to any more of your cleverness involving the written word. Killer Space ninjas versus what appears to be an enormous space-faring demon... There are other ingredients that can be mixed to create similar flavors of awesome, but why suffer substitutes?

The Old Man will most likely be one of the most interesting characters, he has that "I have secrets, want to slowly learn them?" look about him.

And, are you going for a more simplistic look or was it a choice made to make the comic easier on the old hands?

You are all kinds of perceptive, my friend. I'll announce some stuff that will make it all clear sometime soon.

The juxtaposition of the names made me laugh. It's like "Old man, girl, and, just for the hell of it, UNDYING DEMON LORD."

That's his name, too. Not THE Undying Demon Lord. Just "Undying Demon Lord".

Hahaha, yes. I try to come up with unique names-- "girl", "old man", "space ninja". Not so much, eh?
