I don't doubt your claims as too originality but it is rather oddly similar. I like it. Didn't happen to come to you in a dream, did it?

GenjiLim In reply to ClockworkConstruct [2010-10-27 03:02:49 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, I like your line of thought. If this did come to me in a dream that'd be bad news for me XD
Unfortunately, no. I was merely doing what I could to make some sort of oceanic dragon, and my lack of experience drawing them led to giving it the look as you see it now. It was purely by accident...
But, now that I think about it... was it really an "accident" or was something influencing my brush strokes oO?

Well, you might just be the next Pickman. Be very careful if you start drawing murder scenes.

lol, I'll try not to draw murder scenes in that case D:

Wow, this painting is amazing (as are all of yours). One of my favorite parts is how it goes from being almost metallic on top to almost furry at the bottom, and how its totally dominating the picture with the super-bright lightning contrasting it. If I were a deep thinker I'd say you were comparing nature and the monster's of yore, and how both are irreversible and unstoppable. BUT, since I'm not, you don't have to listen to me rant and rave. XD
But still, question, what type of medium do you use? Just wondering. XD

Thanks for the in-depth comment. I'm glad this picture conveyed that for you. I was just doing my best to present a scene which was intimidating: displaying the power of nature and a fantasy monster.
I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 and a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.

Haha. Yeah writing an essay can do that XD
Ah, well if you ever decide you want to get good at drawing, it's just a matter of time and practice.
Are you an artist, too? When I checked by your page I noticed you didn't have any deviations. I just figured you were on dA to browse art.

I have a few things, but mostly I'm just too lazy (and don't quite know how) to post things up on dA.
I also can only do charcoal sketches and oil painting, but I have NO FRICKIN IDEA how to post that up onto dA. Any suggestions?

Sure! The first thing you need to do is get a digital version of your artwork on to your computer, which you can do with a scanner or digital camera. Each of these should come with instructions and the devices necessary to transfer the image files to your computer.
- Next you will want to touch-up and size your image files appropriately. [Some people skip this step... I don't recommend that though]
(Sometimes cameras and scanners may distort the brightness and color of your original work. It's handy to have a program like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom in order to do this). If you don't have any image editing software, no biggie. Just make sure you scan/shoot the picture at a reasonable size. (Typically, no larger than 1200 pixels in either width or height, depending on the picture. Your camera or scanner should give you some info regarding how large your image file will be.)
- Once you're done editing your image file, go to your dA account and click on the Submit Art button and follow the directions there. It should be self explanatory but let me know if you have any questions about the submission process.
Anyway, I hope that works out for you.

Wow! That sounds complicated *sweatdrops*. Sorry, I haven't responded sooner, my computer was down and I had forgotten my dA password, so I had to wait until this one was up until I could get it and (I'm babbling, aren't I?).
Anyway, showed this to a friend and she said she'd walk me through the steps, so thanks! XD

No need to apologize for the late response.
I know it might seem complicated, but it shouldn't be too difficult to learn. It's good that you have someone to help you, though! Good luck.

Yeah, I have some stuff I want to upload, stories mostly, so next time she comes (about 3 hours away) I'm gonna make her teach me. XD. (again! crap, sorry for the late response, I've been neglecting dA.)

It does make sense. I'm the same way.
I don't know if I'd be of much help, as I'm just an aspiring artist, myself, but since you're new to using a tablet I might be able to answer questions you may have about my techniques. Just feel free to ask! ^^

Awesome. I'd love to check out your project! xD

I'm happy you like it. I tried to make my dragon tall and intimidating, so that's why I gave it an extra set of wings and limbs. I'm happy you appreciate that effect!
Thanks for the comment and your support! ^_^
