Lets Wiki attack!!
Hades (from Greek ᾍδης, Hadēs, originally Ἅιδης, Haidēs or Άΐδης, Aidēs, meaning "the unseen") refers both to the ancient Greek underworld, the abode of Hades, and to the god of the underworld. Hades in Homer referred just to the god; the genitive ᾍδου, Haidou, was an elision to denote locality: "the house/dominion of Hades". Eventually, the nominative, too, came to designate the abode of the dead.

In Greek mythology, Hades and his brothers Zeus and Poseidon defeated the Titans and claimed rulership over the universe ruling the underworld, air, and sea, respectively; the solid earth, long the province of Gaia, was available to all three concurrently. Because of his association with the underworld, Hades is often interpreted by moderns as the Grim Reaper.

By the Romans Hades was called Pluto, from his Greek epithet Πλούτων Ploutōn (πλοῦτος, wealth), meaning "Rich One". In Roman mythology, Hades/Pluto was called Dis Pater and Orcus. The corresponding Etruscan god was Aita. Symbols associated with him are the Helm of Darkness and the three-headed dog, Cerberus.

The deceased entered the underworld by crossing the Acheron, ferried across by Charon (kair'-on), who charged an obolus, a small coin for passage placed in the mouth of the deceased by pious relatives. Paupers and the friendless gathered for a hundred years on the near shore according to Book VI of Vergil's Aeneid. Greeks offered propitiatory libations to prevent the deceased from returning to the upper world to "haunt" those who had not given them a proper burial. The far side of the river was guarded by Cerberus, the three-headed dog defeated by Heracles (Roman Hercules). Passing beyond Cerberus, the shades of the departed entered the land of the dead to be judged.

Ironically, despite his reputation in recent years (thanks in no small part to a certain Disney film), the Hades of Greek mythology was actually one of the less dickish Gods of Olympus. If I'm remembering right, the worst thing he did was basically kidnap his wife Persephone, and even then she seemed fine with it. Also, Cerberus' Greek name might be derived from a word meaning "spotted", so he basically named his dog "Spot".

He has to deal with satan's shenanigans but he isn't satan.

What I think why they are getting confused about is that in the bible Tartarus and hell are said to be connected so satan can get into the greek afterlife to cause havoc that Hades has to deal with.

That’s true but he’s not evil like Satan. He just does his job, keeps his promises, and never cheats on his wife like his younger brothers. Plus I think it’s funny and adorable that he names his three headed dog Spot because Cerberus means spotted.

I wouldn’t say so but I do agree he’s probably one of the many possible inspirations to have Satan view as the king of Hell in which the Bible never did said that Satan rules Hell all it did said that he was banished to there also in most of the Bible he is an angel and was still God’s buddy even in the book of Job in which God order Satan to do those awful things to poor Job

Also Hades was never really that evil in the original Greek myths in fact he’s the most chill gods then his brothers Zeus and Poseidon who in the Greek myths were kinda like jerks

Another reason The word Hades and Unseen are so close to each other is because he, along with his brothers, received a gift from the Cyclopses after freeing them. Zeus Received his bolt, Poseidon received the trident, but Hades earned a Helm. A helm of Invisibility.

As for the 'Rich One' part, it is because when they dubbed Pluto the god of the underworld, that meant everything beneath the world. Including jewels and gold.
Also, Fun fact, Hades supposedly rode an anvil to the Underworld for seven days. He could've done it in seconds, but he chose to make it last.

You know it's funny: In our social media we portray Hades as an evil & corrupt deity like Satan or the devil. But contrary to what they want you to believe on social media, Hades in actual myths & legends: although not a saint, was much more understanding & reasonable than his two other brothers. Hades was also more associated with the element Earth, the fire element was associated Hephaestus: God of the Forge.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy!? Why is Hades always depicted as evil? He is a kind, fair man who keeps his promises, does his job, is very loving for his wife and only fucked one person, and that is the guy who tried to steal his wife. Why does the world make him evil!?
