The kid is bright, but he barely knows 2nd Level Spells. The ranger/guide is lying dead at Eliadur's feet. The Orc was transformed by a pocket of spellplague lying dormant under Cloakwood Forest, so he's as huge as a troll (and twice as stupid.)
For those who don't play D&D: Eli is casting a Shield spell! It increases his AC by +5, but only lasts about 6 seconds.

Eliadur was born and raised in Waterdeep, on the Sword Coast, on Toril...so yeah, I guess you could say the fantasy world is established
However, should Wizards of the Coast cause me multiple problems by refusing to publish anyone but established authors like Salvatore and Greenwood, I MAY have to alter the story slightly by putting on my own world, which includes a version of the British Isles.
