Beautiful work. I lived 5 years in Japan. There are quite a few places like this, but mostly I remember just being stuck in traffic all the time.

I was there back in my teens. It wasn't what I was expecting it to be, but it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived. The city is clean and safe (you don't have to worry about dark alleys or crime), and when you turn the corner there is some temple or shrine that is hundreds of years old. I hope you can visit one day. I wish I took more pictures when I was there.

Vue lets you go places too expensive to travel (though the cost of the program and the Cornucopia stuff that's actully good might cover one trip ) but this is excellent! even the lighting, it seems like you didn't need Global radiosity to make this one look good (but correct me if I'm wrong )

You're absolutely right about global radiosity. You see, when i use g.r. i have to wait for the render double time than the normal and some times this looks too much for me. (2 gb of ram doesn't let me do many things ). Here i used global ambience but i had a huge problem with polygons. They were too much for my ram and i wanted to add more details. Unfortunately this happens in many scenes of mine. Thank you anyway

For me there are no pc any more. My next move is an imac. I've worked with it and i got crazy. I have 4gb in my office with a quadro fx video card and i crashed it while i was rendering. I'm very dissapointed with pc and microsoft generaly

I must admit I've stood up for PC's as long as I've been doing digital art seriously (which has really only been the last 4 years ) since I rarely had issues with mine (no more than the Mac's I had to use in my Digital Media course, and they were newer and more powerful) But my Vista, which worked flawlessly up until a couple of months ago has taken a HUGE dive since then, like it reached an "expiry date" all of the sudden and now behaves like a piece of shit So I finally am wondering now if a Mac is a better choice, but they're so expensive, and my programs are all PC-versions of them, if I have to buy my programs again for Mac, then forget it - I don't have that kind of money

It's defently a better choice, but the cost of a mac is a big problem for me too, but i need it for my job either. 16 gb of ram will be very handy and keep in mind (at least that happens with me) when ever i buy a pc i always keep it for 2-3 or 4 years and then i buy a new one. Friends of mine that bought a mac years before have more powerful machines than mine that is new. All i want to say is that it worths the money because you will work fine for the next 7 or more years, but this is just a theory because nobody knows what's going on with technology. Anyway i will buy it for sure and when i'll do it i'll inform you . And something last. Your art is amazing for doing it only 4 years. Keep it up mate

Don't worry, I feel your pain. I have 4GB of RAM but because its twice as much, don't think it can do twice as much. I'm constantly having crashes, out of memory warnings and waiting days for renders for scenes that most pro-level Vue users would think still look a bit bare in regards to polygon count and lighting quality. Normally it's the artist, not the tools that matters. But in 3D tools really do matter, and cheap, old or weak computers really hinder how good even a talented 3D artist can make their work

Even now, I'm doing another 360 degree view thing and I have to render it in six parts, each 1500x1500. The first (of six) square took some 15 or so hours to render just at that size with STANDARD lighting I tried GR for it - took 12 hours just to do a quarter of the "prepass" - no way I'm waiting for that six times over so I had to choose a lighting option that had no prepass involved (and only standard and Global Ambience has that) so I picked standard, it fortunately made little difference to the scene since it's dark and has mostly ambient light anyway
