Description
This is a slightly older piece but I always liked it. Creating cartoon versions of real Egyptian hieroglyphs was fun.Remember kids, tomb-robbing doesn't pay. You'll only end up getting your limbs forcibly removed by a cranky mummy.

Not only did I start with one base color for the painting part, I also tinted my pencil linework after I scanned it to enhance the feeling of the warm torchlight.

Awesome! I love the eyes on both subjects, one of trepidation, the other of ... "you're dead."
And the hieroglyphs ... is that hyena droppings right under the torch?
And of course the lighting is great!

I'm so glad somebody noticed that!
I swear that in my research I came across a hieroglyph that was (presumably) a jackal with circular dots trailing behind it. Maybe they're supposed to be footprints in the sand, but I like to think that they're jackal poop.
And of course, upon that determination, I immediately said to myself, "That one's in!"
