Description Another photograph of this wonderful tree in Belvoir Forest, Belfast.

On an evening in April, the low sunshine is causing some dramatic shadows on this tree.

---

I actually went back and re-worked this photo slightly, as while the light and shadows looked rather dramatic, it was, as dcwalker said, a bit too harsh.

(Reworked - again - 12 August. This version is a bit brighter and minus slight the magenta cast.)

Nice perspective
I might add, however, that while dramatic shadows are nice, the shadows and highlights here seem a little too harsh.

Thanks I think this is perhaps the best angle to shoot this tree.

I think I did over-do the contrast slightly. The light was pretty harsh, and I wasn't 100% happy with the result. I've gone back and re-worked things a bit, so hopefully in this updated version I have softened the contrast just a little.

Yeah, I think that it looks better now. Thanks for taking my suggestion

No problem. Thanks for the advice.

I've been trying to tone down the HDR effect in some of my shots, I think I went a bit too far with this one initially

I think it's great that you're always trying to do HDR better, even taking suggestions from a person who only understands what she sees and thinks about the image, and little about the actual process of HDR.

Thanks Feedback is very valuable to improve... in many aspects of life.

Ideally, people should like the shot, and HDR should only improve on it, while not becoming more important than the subject.

I think, whether it takes 5 minutes or 5 hours to process, the most important thing is to concentrate on getting a good photo in the camera.
