Description BREGENZ, AUSTRIA

comments, favs and certainly critiques are more than just welcome!

have a great week,

chris.

edit:

above you see the "Seebühne" (or Lake Stage)
it has 7,000 seats and is the location for large-scale opera or musical performances on a stage over water on the shores of Lake Constance.

Opera or musical productions on the lake stage generally tend to come from the popular operatic repertoire, but often are extravagantly original and innovative productions/ stagings, frequently using the waters of the lake as an extension of the stage. Recent productions have included "Aida"by Giuseppe Verdi in 2009-2010.
After the end of this production the stage you see above will be replaced by another setting.

very very beautiful photo you captured the atmosphere perfectly and I am happy this got a DD so lots of people can see this unusual stage in the Lake Constance. I have been living near Bregenz for a while and have seen Aida performing on this stage, and I just wanted to tell you that I really love your work especially the dramatic clouds are fantastic!

A wonderful image, the photograph is great and it is thought provoking for obvious reasons. I have to say that I would like to know the location of this colossus, as well as, other additional details about the subject and the shot. Wonderful!

These guys have been spreading around the Internet a lot the past few days, at least, this is the third time I've bumped into them from a separate source. Do you know anything about how they integrated the Colossus/Liberty into Aida? Was the setting moved to Rhodes or NYC? Or is it just a more abstract association they allow to play out through a less directly nailed down Egypt?

Great gallery, this one reminds me of David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust) for some strange reason.

I´ll really have to take a drive there, the next time they´re putting one of these amazing stages up.

EricForFriends [2010-07-20 15:03:32 +0000 UTC]

It took me some time to realize that there were no people on it, because it was as if they were there, working like tiny specks on large works, like on a Poussin or Lorrain painting. The sky is beautiful and results in a square that has an opera-like grandeur.
