Hey guys, first piece submitted to Deviantart for a little while. This is a piece depicting Leona aiming to shutdown a Katarina ult, will she be successful, I'll let you be the judge. Had a lot of fun creating this piece from concept poses all the way through to finished version.Keep the suggestions and requests coming, also, feel free to contact me about commissions

The individual pieces of this work are very pleasing, both Leona and Katarina as well as their outfits and spell effects are well-drawn, defined, and just good-looking. The background is well-made and provides a good contrast to the light shining off of Katarina's daggers and Leona's armor.
My big problem with this piece is that when you put everything going on in the foreground together it came together pretty sloppily. The eyes of both characters seem to be focused on nothing in particular, and Katarina's pose specifically doesn't show someone who's throwing a storm of daggers at an enemy below.
Overall, it looks good but it didn't quite come together right.

The initial idea behind this piece is clear and evidently shown. My four and a half star rating for vision I feel is very much justified just by looking at the piece. Katarina having the higher position in the piece is to show dominance over Leona. This ties in well with the game as well because it is essentially a carry vs a support. Leona being great at stopping the katarina's resets shows great resistance opting to fight the seemingly superior opponent. The originality of the piece it also a major talking point.
This kind of work has been done many times in the past and will continue on into the future. It is with that in mind that I lowered the score for originality because little has been done to ensure that people know YOU are the one making this piece. For something like this to work something has to change, something innovative to break away from what is meta. When looking at artist everyone talks about "the edge"what you have that is different and what will make your piece stand out and to be completely honest I cannot see much here in terms of concept.
I think your technique is great although I think it is one of your weaker pieces. I am a fan of your style and I think you have chosen a very good style that seems to overpower other aspects of the piece. This would be a positive thing though because what you are overpowering is the weaker aspect of the piece, the concept isn't that original but you did well to execute it regardless which in itself is a difficult thing.
In the end I think that you did do a very good job but it's not something to become complacent over. I personally didn't find the piece very impactful because of small issues I had with the piece that didn't allow me to become immersed in the situation being portrayed. Leona's face for example isn't focused of to Katarina and so it looks as if she is uninterested which is crazy considering she is going to the effort of blocking the daggers. Don't get me wrong, I do truly think this is a very good piece but it suffers from evident pre-planning issues and lack of originality.
To improve on your next piece I'd suggest you spend more time planning out the piece and cross check that concept with others, research what others have done and separate yourself from the pack. With your technique I would expect highly of you and will gladly await your next piece.

I want to try and critique it but I just cant find anything wrong with it. The only fault I could find would be that you are making other artist feel bad with dem mad skillz
