I finally tracked it down! They seem to be even better at hiding in the soft mud of Deadman's Marsh than Tadpow are! This new pokemon species I've named Toaderkeg. They seem to be great borrowers. I've seen footprints of several of them, but this was the first one I managed to encounter outside the mud. They seem quite friendly and joyful, stomping around and expertly avoiding stepping on any Tadpow they come across. Despite their friendly disposition, after witnessing one react to an attack by a local would-be predator, I don't find myself brave enough to approach any further.

I would recommend any trainer wanting a Toaderkeg in their team to catch one of the numerous Tadpow instead. Unlike their pre-evolved forms, the Toaderkeg don't seem to tire themselves out after an explosion. Who knows how many it'll take to take one down?
