[ Purchase on Etsy ]When I was trying hard to come up with ideas for original character buttons for AWA, I decided it was well past time for me to do the zodiac - in this case, I did both the Western and Chinese zodiacs. For the Chinese zodiac, I depicted the different years as girls in various traditional Asian clothing - not just Chinese and Japanese, though those did get more than their fair share. When I started research for this project, I realized how beautiful Hanfu really is.

I was arranging them starting at the current year. Everything I previously knew about the Chinese zodiac (besides my own sign) came from Fruits Basket.
