I just love the way Jon looks in this, the flames and trailing energy smoke all look awesome. That dark color and glow suits him well.
Poor Sam indeed, but hey, whats a little corruption among friends? Er, perhaps that was insanity... oh well.

You don't want Jonathan with that shade of purple. He's in his psycho state.

Wait, how can he spread it if he's swallowed it?

Well, think of it affecting Jon's aura and the magical energy that he exhumes from his body as a natural process. It's possible that with a level of exposure, Sam could get the bug.

Why did you swallow the Stone, Jonny? Why couldn't you eat the car instead?
Are you suggesting we need someone or something with a strong aura as well to overcome this.
I guess it also means that not even the Blitzardi are infallible. Although if you think about it, Sam's not a natural Blitzardi.

Don't discard it entirely, those guys sound badass. I would like to see it come up at a later date, but you don't have to if you don't want to. But if you do, it's going to have to be something really bad. Like, "Lord Khan coming back" bad. But again, all just opinion.

No. I can't say for fear that I'll call him forward. All I can say is that he's like Cthulu, only a million times worse.
I thought he was only a Something AwFul creatiOn, bUt oNly a few Days ago, I saw him with mY own eyes. I was lOcked oUt of my room, and had to bed at home for the night. As I stood outside the dorm and waited for my dad to pick me up, I saw a pale shape on a tall, thin black body standing in the woods and looking in one of the third story windows. It was outside my side of the building too; I'll not forget that moment for a long time.

Okay then, I'm just gonna say this. I used to hallucinate too. Long ago. I heard voices, saw ghostly images and such, and they told me bad things. But you know, I finally programmed my head to no longer see them anymore and you know what? They disappeared. I don't hear them anymore and I don't see them anymore. Because they were not there to begin with.
Dude, I draw fantastic things, but I don't believe in them. That's all they are, fun fantastic things. There is no such thing as the boogie man, and there's no such thing as the Far Realm. The Far Realm was created by Wizard's of the Coast when they needed a place to put Abominations as they went to 3rd Edition. It's where they decided to stash all their Beholders at. I basically just turned it into a nightmare realm that creatures like Cthulhu reside in.
And I already looked up your monster and there's no entry on it. It's in your head. Go see a shrink.

It's a hoax, dude. The guys created the thing. It looks more like a badly dressed scarecrow and some dude with a shaky camera than a spook.
God, doesn't anyone know how to keep camera's steady? It's called a tripod, you idiots!
I mean, when I take night shots with my SLR, even free-handed, I'm steadier than that, and I have carpel tunnel.

Damn. As you may have realized, the Slender Man is not a real monster. He was created for a Something Awful Photoshop contest, but he's taken on a life of his own since then. His whole gimmick is appearing in amateurish photos, he's a parody of ghost photos. Likewise, Marble Hornets is sort of the film version of that, a student film crew accidentally captures the Slender Man on film, and he drives them insane.

Were you hoping I would believe?
As for the 'sightings' probably some pedophile using the newly made myth as a way to scare children.

Actually, I was hoping you were more 'Net-savvy, and pick up the secret message I sent you. The capitalized letters spelled out "found you", which appears in many SlenderBlogs; it signifies that Slendy's driven them to the point where he can subconsciously control their movements.
As for the sightings, they are pretty much just Something Awful Goons trying to scare each other. It works; only a few days after the original two images appeared here:[link] Goons started having nightmares about him. Slendy was just a "Right time, right place" sort of thing. Read through that thread and see how many pictures he appears in after that.
I believe that Slender Man allows the horror genre to use the potential of the technology of the 21st century to tell new stories, now that the books are all disguised romances and all the movies are sequels or remakes.

Yeah, I was trying to spell it out several times, but you see, since I more literal when I converse across the net instead of using 1337 or any sort of net-speak, I don't catch up on the 'secret messages'.
And when I spelled it, it came out with very odd spellings. So, I'm almost guessing you kept spelling it wrong.

The first time I think I spelled it wrong, id you go back to what you interpreted the first time as. I kept it in mind the second time, and made sure it spelled "found you". I must admit, I was enjoying you struggle to comprehend while I played the role of a guy who knows what happens to people who know too much about him, but is trying to warn people to the best of his ability. Then you showed serious concern for my mental health, at which point I realized the game had fallen apart.

Yeah.
I spelled the found you thing. But still didn't get what you were pointing at.
With me it's just basically better tell me what this thing is instead of playing little games. Because I will start questing your sanity if it gets that far.

Well, I had wrongly assumed you had heard of Slender Man before, and assumed you knew what message I had sent you. I'm almost glad you didn't just confront me about the capitalization issue; at that point I would have feigned a disbelief that I had sent the message in that way, and what would you have thought then?
I was just trying to share an Internet in-joke, and now I can get down to my main point after all this time: If Slender Man was integrated into a DnD campaign, would the Far Realm be a good choice of origin?

No, not really. There are other evil places he could rise from. The Shadow Plane is a good place to begin. It has some nasties too. Even though the Shadow Plane is a neutral plane, a lot of evil creatures do live there.

maxvision92 In reply to Ghostwalker2061 [2010-10-31 05:30:38 +0000 UTC]
Hm, the Plane of Shadow is good. Another idea I just popped up was this: In a lot of pictures, Slender Man is seen lurking in the woods; in fact in quite a few, he seems to blend in with the trees until you notice that the "Branches" are all reaching down, and the "Tree" is wearing a suit. What's a scary place on the wheel that has trees?
This would be so much easier in Eberron; there I'd just say Slendy's from Dal Quor. Some poor bastard dreamed about him, and he escaped, which is pretty much what happened in real life, too.
