Make the character's layer and the ground they're standing on/foreground really dark, then paint orange zigzags in the background, motion blur the hell out of it, add more slightly brighter zigzags, maybe in different directions, motion blur again. Then add a thin layer of a dark color in the shape of maybe buildings or something that might be burning, and erase parts of it with a brush that's in a funny shape like that. (It's kind of a flowery circle thing. I copied the shape form another program and made it into a brush.)

If you ask me what makes him fearsome is casting Augment Flow. Better have some kind of countermeasure for that. (You can use Stop Flow to cancel it.) Thanks!

Thanks! I didn't get a lot of spare time to mess with the character's design (and I wanted it to be shrouded in secrecy a bit for story reasons), but the flames definitely felt right.
