Description Shirt design for my crew boat this year. It's an albino rhino because our boat is called the rhino and is white. . Doesn't make much sense because were lightweights but whatever. . I was almost certain something was going to go wrong because I used the photographic emulsion process that involved a home-made darkroom that, quite honestly, wasn't all that dark. Anyways, here is my super awesome screen print xD

Love the pose and the way you did the feet.

Awesome design! Rhino is so cute!
Sounds like what we did for camp, the screen-printing.

It is exactly what we did in camp. I just did the same process at home.

You didn't have some machine to expose the image, though, did you?

No, but I got around that with a 150 watt light bulb from the home depot xD

I want to do the drawing again! I loved the drawing bit, and the screen printing was fun too (although really messy!).

I hated the drawing part. . I didn't like the teacher and my drawing style is WAY different. .

Well, true. If I suddenly landed into a manga class, I don't think I'd like it that much. But still, it's a good base, realism.
I still agree with you that I didn't really like the teacher. A little freaky, having her stand over your shoulder and not say anything.

I do enjoy realistic drawings sometimes. . But only animals. . not peoples. .

I love drawing people. They're so interesting--their range of expressions, their movement, the fact that their very posture can convey something about their emotions. I don't enjoy animals as much, although that may just be the fact that I never really drew them much.

I have the same feeling about animals. . I think some of this comes from the fact that I AM human and see something in animals that I feel humans lack. . I also love drawing the variety of the animal world, from feathers, wings, fur, scales, claws and teeth.

Well, to each his own perception.
By the way, I saw a very impressive piece of artwork over the weekend--truly impressive. If you could see it, I think that you would admire it too, seeing as it comes from our own age group.
I think I am a little jealous of whoever made that work, actually! I have always wished to do something mind-boggling in the slightest and haven't succeeded so far.

How's school? Things getting really crammed now? I myself have a load of projects and papers to work on.

Well, decent or insane, homework is NOT fun. I think I've been taking the most difficult honors course this year. Loads of homework. You're usually working on 2-3 things at a time, if not 4.

Yes, it's a rhyno! I got the screen printing to work at home! It was fun but took a long time to dry/expose but I have proven it. . it's possible to make screen prints without the fancy stuff that was at the CCA xD

Giiratiina In reply to stonedemopig46 [2010-04-29 05:53:58 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I got some screens and the emulsion at Blick and then I set up a red party light and made a dark room at night (kind of like what we did with the photography processes at the camp) and then used a Home Depot 150 watt light bulb for the exposure.

oh wow ur so lucky! thats amazing
how long does the whole process take?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Giiratiina In reply to stonedemopig46 [2010-05-02 05:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Maybe an hour of supervised work and three hours of waiting for the screen to dry/expose. So like four hours total, it really isn't so bad though.
