Description
Broken in the heart of the city
The world is running around his world
His heart is beating to the sound of the passing traffic
It's his street, his corner, his traffic light, his story, his end
Tomorrows he may not be here, and nobody will notice
The story remains the same

****

Alenbi street, Tel Aviv, Israel
Canon 135 F2 / Iso 640 (No tripod).
Shooting while lying on the pavement to get the angle of the passing people. 1/30 Shutter speed to get some movement in. Added some noise and desaturated it to add some feel. the original shot [link]

I hope you can let this one touch you.

The faces of the people walking by say it all.. We judge so often, usually without even realizing it.

This photo is excellent, and makes me want an SLR even more. :D

I really thank you for posting this. Two months ago, I ran away from my house. My mind wasn't all together, and my parents had a really bad fight the previous day, the worst from my memory. I'd locked myself in the bathroom to try and block out the shouting. My dad wanted to hit me for making my mum upset, and my mum didn't want to. He didn't (thank god), but I was still scared from it as my dad is scary as fuck when he's angry.
I was just as scared while I was in the process of running away. I didn't actually run: I walked very quickly. I wanted to go to the mental hospital nearest to me because I thought that:
A. I would get the help that I needed.
B. My parents wouldn't let me, saying that I wasn't insane.
C. I would finally get some peace.
I didn't know how to get there by bus and had forgotten to bring money. I looked at the map and saw that the train station closest to me wasn't far away. It was actually the longest I've probably walked. A car pulled over close to me and I just kept walking; I've run away from school countless times & every time I've stopped when a car's stopped near me, I've always been taken back. Also I thought they might kid-nap me, which is why I had a pair of scissors on me.
The lady at the train station was incredibly nice. I'd told her that I'd run away from home and had no money and asked if it was possible that I catch a train regardless.
"Do you want me to call your parents?"
"I'd rather not," I replied. "My sister's told me that there's services in the city for homeless people & that's where I'm going." (Or something similar)
"Well, there's a Salvation Army church up on -main road-, but I think it's closed now."
"That's a bit too close to home. My grandma is in a nursing home over the road from it."
She let me get on, and she gave me some food and 4$, and asked me "not to spend it on smokes." She also found a ticket sticking out of an electronic validater and handed it to me. That part really felt like something out of a movie.
The train came after 10 pm and I went into a carriage with security; my dad used to be a police officer & has told me & my sister all these horror stories of girls our age getting raped and such.
This turned out to be a stupid move as the train was stopped at a station far away from my suburb. It was only a few stops away from the city and the security told the police where I was and they drove me home. I got home around 11 pm.
My parents were incredibly thankful that I was alright. The next day, however, they were both home and incredibly angry at me for running away: They'd barely slept.

TL;DR: Went crazy, run away, caught a train, police drove me home, parents got pissed the next day.

I also thought that if the police hadn't of found me, I would've been homeless like that man, probably working as a prostitute, with people staring at me all the time. I hate being stared at.

Sorry for rambling... I go over-board with describing things...

I think I might like the original better from a aethetic standpoint, as the more noticeable contrasting of warm and cold colors is more appealing to me. This one probably gets the feeling you were trying to convey across better than the other, though, so I fav'd for both of them, in essence. Nice work.

so very sad and unfortunately so very often witnessed by us all in many
cities all around the World. I think esp with ongoing War and us nearing
another Christmas, this is such an sad and humbling sight. We live in a
throwaway society, alongside such poverty. I was in our nearest city
just this weekend and was heartbroken to seeing so many beggars and
poorly dressed and unclean children. So much more our governments
could be doing, the money that badly spent by them all is disgraceful.
