I absolutely agree 100% with you.Ā
I really hate forced romance scenarios, and usually I hate it when the girl character is mean to the guy character constantly, even though they'll get together in the end (Seriously? How does that work?)Ā
But here, it's actually done well. We understand that really, they both annoy eachother in various ways, but it's all done at an attention thing really. It kinda reminds me of Helga from Hey Arnold. Nova may seem like she hates him, but in reality she does care for him very dearly...she's a tomboy and doesn't know how to express herself like most girls would. However when the time and place comes to act so, she knows when to back down and show her more softer side. Sparks of course is far more obvious, but I would like to think that he actually does know she cares for him. That he's like the annoying brother who knows when to push his sister's buttons and when not too. What makes it even better is the time it takes to build them up. We do get small hints from season 1 to 3, but season 4 is when it really starts to hit, and it just feels like perfect timing, especially with the scenarios that take place. Nova gets lost in another dimension, Sparks becomes consumed by the fire of hate. Both characters are shown moments where having eachother close is a big importance to them. Season 4 is when the real serious emotions start to arise. It's like a test for them both. Just how much do they realise they care for one another? How much does it really affect them?Ā
