{ Manner of First Death } Killed when a large, heavy object fell on top of him. To this day he has no idea what it was exactly, as he did not look up in time to put a name to it. He usually refers to it as 'The flying missile that squashed me!', which he thinks is funny. It... really isn't that funny.

{ Appearance }

The first thing that one usually notices about Rhys is his size. Due to the fact that both of his parents were large cats themselves (his mother being one of the largest domestic cats), Rhys is pretty freaking huge. He's not exactly the biggest a cat can be, of course, but... jeez. He's practically a giant to those cats who happen to dwarfed by him. Anyway, apart from his very noticeable height, Rhys also has bright, slightly slanted blue eyes that stick out amongst his dark brown, spotted tabby fur. His eyes have a tendency to be quite expressive, even when the rest of Rhys's face is settled in a pokerface type of expression.

His body build is mostly lean, although he is a little bulky, and he has well developed muscles. His fur is long and thick, especially around his cheeks, chest, and his tail, which is practically feather-like due to how bushy and soft it is. The rest of his fur, however, is primarily coarse. It also renders him mostly waterproof due to its density and thickness, so Rhys is never particularly bothered by the idea of a swim. His front legs are long, slightly longer than his back legs, although his hind legs make up for it by being pretty powerful.

His particular Binding Mark is located on his left front leg, right above the paw.

Rhys can see the memories of others, and has the ability to share these memories with other cats. He cannot, however, see memories of Eternity, as it appears that those particular memories have been completely removed from the minds of everyone. This frustrates him to no end. Rhys rarely uses his Blessing unless he has permission, though, as he does not like to intrude on someone's privacy. Mostly, his Blessing is used to explain Division life to new arrivals.

Level 1 Rhys can see and share memories that last up to 3 minutes long, but it is incredibly difficult, and the memories are often blurry. Any longer than 3 minutes and he gets intense headaches that leave him in pain for a whole 24 hours. (He did not actually have this level, as he was reborn onto the island immediately at Level 2. However, if he had started off as a Level 1, this is how it would have been)

Level 2 Rhys can see and share memories up to, at most, 6 minutes long. Any longer than that and he will have a terrible headache for 21 hours. Resting is required after such an instance. Then again, resting is required any time he uses his Blessing, really, as the exertion is great. The memories that he can share are usually slightly blurry, and any sounds in the memories are muffled, as though they are being viewed from underwater. It cannot be used twice in immediate succession.

Level 3 Rhys can see and share memories up to, at most, 9 minutes long. Any longer than that and he will have a very painful headache for up to 19 hours. Resting is required after using the Blessing. Most of the memories that are shared are fairly clear, and the sound is good, too. However, Rhys must concentrate very hard for this to be possible. If he gets even the slightest bit distracted, the memory will do one of five things. It will either blur and become fuzzy, gain muffled sound, become distorted, change into a different memory, or fade completely. The Blessing cannot be used twice in succession. Because his Blessing is stronger, his strength decreases very slightly.

Loyal ~ For Rhys, his Division will always come first before anything else, and he is very open about this fact. He may be kind of silly at times, what with his constant joking around, but his head and his heart are in the right place. Loyal to the core, Rhys is always sure to be the first one to raise his voice in defense of any one of his Division members. The same goes for cats whom he considers very close companions, and he will always stubbornly stand by them no matter what happens. Unless, of course, doing this risks the safety of his whole Division. That is the only exception. He will always do his best to be loyal to his friends, but under those type of circumstances, he is Superior first and friend second. It's tough, but that's life.

Generous ~ Rhys is a kind, sweet tom, and his giving, considerate nature appears to know no bounds. When another cat is in need of help and comes to him to ask for it, Rhys cannot find the heart to say no. He will do his best to help them, even if he has to use his Blessing to the limit to be of any service. Not to mention if one of his Division members cannot fulfill their duties, and Rhys has time on his paws, he'll do his best to help them out by taking over their duties for them. He's very humble about this, though, and he doesn't help others for his own personal gain. He just enjoys the feeling of being of use to someone, and it always pleases him to see the look of joy on the faces of others when he has successfully aided them.

Compassionate ~ He may be a giant, but he's definitely a gentle giant. A big softie at heart, Rhys is the type of cat who's sympathy is fairly easy to earn. Tales of woe never fail to tug on his heartstrings, especially if he finds that he can empathize as well as sympathize. If he wasn't supposed to be a strong, manly Superior, he would probably get emotional over those type of things really easily. As it is, he can't, because that'd be really weird. But... that's beside the point. The actual point is that Rhys really, truly cares about those around him, even the cats he doesn't know all that well.

Distant ~ Although Rhys considers himself to be mostly in tune to the emotions of others, he can be a little... distant, is the best word for it. This is largely due to his Blessing. Being able to see the memories of others makes him a little unfocused, especially afterwards, as he always ends up disconcerted about where he is and what he was doing beforehand. Besides that, Rhys isn't very open about his feelings. He'll willingly listen to the troubles of others, but when it comes to his own emotions, he won't say much, and what he does say will be vague. His aloofness can be a little frustrating, but that's just the way he is. He's not even very aware of this tendency of his, honestly.

Shortsighted ~ One of Rhys's major problems is his shortsightedness. More of a 'take action' type of cat, he often rushes into a situation without thinking things through or examining the possible consequences of his actions. Depending on the circumstances, his carelessness can be costly. If that is the case, Rhys usually spends ages beating himself up over his stupidity. The thing is, no matter how many times he tells himself that he's going to get better, that he's actually going to focus and try to gain some foresight, it never works out. He always goes back to his old bad habit, and when he realizes what he has done, the cycle just begins all over again. It's extremely frustrating for him.

Stoic ~ Although Rhys is receptive to the emotions of others, his way of dealing with his own emotions is completely different. While he will encourage others to tell him their problems, he won't do the same thing when in a position similar to theirs. Rhys stubbornly refuses to saddle others with any problems he has, so he chooses instead to bear them and grin. He will not complain about any of the hardships he has to bear, especially the ones that come with his Superior ranking. Instead, he keeps his problems to himself, refusing to show any sign of weakness. Not to mention he doesn't want anyone to concern themselves about him. He's also good at hiding the majority of his feelings, and the only thing that usually gives him away is his expressive eyes. Although this can be a selfless trait, there are times when it can also work against him. There's only so much you can manage to deal with by yourself, after all. Unfortunately, Rhys hasn't seemed to comprehend this yet. Perhaps one day he will, but it probably won't be any time soon.

Protective ~ Rhys's natural, instinctive protective nature can be a great thing, at times. He would give his life protecting one of his Division members. The thing is... well, under certain circumstances, he can be a little... overprotective. Mostly towards the cats he cares about. It's hard not to love him for how much he cares, but when he gets all overprotective, it can be a bittttt frustrating. Or... a lot. For instance, if one of his loved ones gets in trouble, he will hover around them fretfully, insisting on keeping them out of harm's way and trying to help them with simple tasks that they could probably accomplish by themselves. It's enough to work any cat's nerves. He does mean well, though. But oh jeez, if he has children one day, he is going to be so extremely overprotective of them. Especially if he has daughters. He will probably smother them with overprotective father-ness.

- His sense of humor is pretty terrible. When he makes a joke, everyone either stares at him blankly or laughs out of pity.

- He gets awkward when she-cats flirt with him. Seriously. He'll get tongue tied, flustered, and generally make a huge fool of himself, in his opinion. Rhys is forever trying to work up the nerve to be like those other cool toms, who can always give just the right smile to make the she-cats swoon. But it is IMPOSSIBLE. He is not physically capable of being flirtatious, and if he tries it usually just ends up with him looking like an idiot. But... perhaps he gets points for trying???

- He never takes off his necklace, and he doesn't like to talk about the human child who gave it to him.

- Most of the time he's quite capable of carrying on a conversation, but other times he can be more of the strong, silent type; content to listen, but always ready and willing to leap into action.

- He's a big softie when it comes to kits.

- He's a quiet sleeper, and when he wakes up he will just lay there with his eyes closed, still breathing steadily. So sometimes it can be difficult to tell whether he's either sleeping or just faking it.
