THE (VERY ABRIDGED) HISTORY OF CRESCENT DEATH

The story of Crescent Death begins with her mission to aid a wrongfully convicted felon named Reiko James.

She breaks into the correctional facility and frees him, and their adventures begin there. During the course of lying in wait for sweet, sweet vengeance, Reiko and “Kaze”, as he calls her, develop a great friendship and eventually fall in madly and deeply in love. Their trials only strengthen their partnership.

As Kaze helps Reiko, she manages to do so without revealing very much about her own past to him.

In high school, Kaze chose foreign exchange as a way to run away from her problems; she was a social outcast who was ridiculed harshly. Once she reached Japan, however, she learned that not only had her abusive boyfriend, Harakiri tagged along, but she’d also been shanghaied by a crazy old sorcerer sensei. After a crazy series of events, her boyfriend and sensei had both disappeared leaving her to fend for herself in the wilderness, then in the underworld as a brawler. She befriended (?) a colorful cast along the way, and they traveled together in search of a common enemy.

During their journey, Kaze learns a lot about herself and her abilities, gathers strength and confidence, but gets a share of loneliness and heartbreak that become a liability, causing her to succumb to the great evil energies contained within her ancient weapon, the SoulSickle. As well as helping other people find their destinies, she must also become more acquainted with her own.

~*:SIDE NOTE:*~: People in the past have asked about why Kaze and I look alike. Kamikaze was created in 1995 by yours truly, inspired by my then-renewed love of anime and my rap stage name. (I was watching a lot of bishoujo at the time, Sailor Moon, Devil Hunter Yoko, as well as Fist of the North Star and Plastic Little, and coming down from my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle high.) She was originally designed with brown bangs and a lot of piercings, and it was brought to my attention that she was painfully anorexic; however, after time, I figured I’d give her two-toned look a try for myself and loved it. I based some of the stories on personal life events and twisted it around to make it story-worthy. As time progressed, I got more comfortable drawing her as muscular and thick, as suggested at the time by a person close to me; it seemed to work better for her. So, her history is based loosely from mine and the crazy ish that has happened in my life, and I have tried to emulate her look (I think it’s because she’s such a fierce yet fragile character). It all goes together, lol. Her original design had a MUCH different look.

Picture was originally drawn in 2001, and inked by BEP. However, there were quite a bit of digital retouches to rectify the more problematic proportions. Just wanted to give credit where it was due.
