I like this a lot. I love how strong the emotions come through.
But first off, I love your colors! I love how bright and bold and vibrant they art, how you play with the light and shadow to give her hair this really vivid shine. It looks great! I also love how the shadows you used on her dress help to give it volume and texture, and it communicates how the fabric moves and falls in a lifelike way. And I love how you subtly blend colors together, like the warmer pinks on her shoulders and fingers, and the different tones that make up her hair -- it all works together in a lovely way to make the colors really pop.
Though, as GORGEOUS as the colors are, I love the emotion that comes through. The pose is really strong -- you can feel how her body has just crumpled up with grief as she kneels on the ground, leaning forward and hanging her head to cry. I like how the shapes and the sense of movement in the folds of her dress and in how her hair falls kind of reflect that "crumpled up" idea in a visual, indirect way, too. And speaking of her hair -- wow. The way it falls and drips down her shoulders, splitting it's path in all these different directions, with this slow, fluid sense of movement -- it looks amazing. Before I even read the description, it felt like the way her hair was falling was very clearly reminiscent of tears flowing. And I love that! Er, not that I love sadness, but I love how you used the hair, how you gave it that slow, fluid, dripping flow to reflect and repeat the idea of her crying in a bigger way than only the tears on her face. That does SO MUCH to hit me in the face with the emotion in this picture, and I LOVE how strongly it comes through.
Going back to her pose, I mentioned how it feels crumpled up, broken. Well, everything but her arms. The arms have this frustrated rigidity to them; they're the only thing left with any strength to hold her up. But I feel that frustration that comes from sadness from how her arms are drawn. Her fingers grip her dress so tightly that her fingers are turning red. And those strong shapes make me think of how I feel when I'm so upset -- helpless, and that always makes me feel so frustrated that my body tenses up really tightly and I'm even more frustrated that there's nothing I can do with it. And I get that feeling in the tight, rigid way she's holding her arms. I love how that way of communicating her sadness contrasts with the less rigid, less "aggressive" ways you've shown it everywhere else, but how it fits right in perfectly and shows another layer of her feelings.
And her face. The expression there is really strong, too. The tears falling from her eyes feel very convincing -- the way you broke up the stream implies the animation, the motion of the tear falling in a lifelike way. Her closed eyes and raised eyebrows, and the warm, pink shadows around her eyes do a lot to show her sadness on her face.
I like the halo in the background -- I like how it gives this radiance to the pic that kinda pushes the expression of her emotions even more. It's like her feelings are so strong they're just coursing off of her.
Again, I LOVE the colors. Though it's interesting that her emotions are so sad, and the colors are so cheerily bright. At one point I wondered if using bleaker tones might fit the mood of the pic better, but I don't think I'd like that because aesthetically I much prefer the vivid, vibrant, bright colors as they are here. And just now I've further trampled on the idea that the colors could've been darker because in thinking back on the little story in your description, the bright colors fit this perfectly, thematically as well. She's "overcome by sadness" as you said, but through that sadness she's bringing new life to the earth. So that contrast of her distraught emotions, pose, expression with the bright, cheery colors makes all kinds of sense!
So yeah. If it's not clear by now, I adore this picture. It's amazing. I love the pose, the colors, the shapes and flows and everything about how you drew it, and I really love how you used everything to communicate themes and moods and EMOTION in such a powerful, lovely way. Awesome job.

I love it! The green hair really gives it more of the nature look! Then fluidy way her hair flows down reminds you of water trinkling down a wall!
