Hmmm, looks just a bit like what we call 'tree asps' down here. Lots of venomous spines hidden under that hair. They are actually flannel moth caterpillars [link]

Don't know what this guy is, though. Maybe a different kind of flannel moth?

I have no idea what it is but if it had venomous spines, I'm sure glad I didn't touch it. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I saw an all white version of this one not too long ago. I love wooly bears, they're so cute!

Yep. I was stooping down to take this pic and then I put my hand up on this railing to pull myself up. I said to my husband "wouldn't it have been awful if, when getting up, I would have accidentally put my hand over the caterpillar and squashed it?"

You have very posh-looking caterpillars over there. Here theye're a sick greenbalck and yellow or dirty looking unkempt hairy things.

Well, I used to see a lot of wooly bears, caterpillars that are a cinnamon brown with a wide stripe of black in the middle. Haven't seen one in a long time. Don't know what kind this is. I thought this one was pretty cool looking. Probably some horrible kind that destroys everything in its path.

It could be You never know. There are so many insects etc out there. Hard to know which are the good ones.
When I was a kid I used to think a kind of white cotton like thing on cabbages..about the size of a Q-tip was bad. HA!!! It was bad ok..gruesome. I think it belongs to a wasp and the larvae burrow into the caterpillars and eat them from the inside out. Nature..isn't it beautiful lol NOT
