Description Though the title of Queen Matriarch is also viewed as one of divinity in Salvatica, The Queen has no official political authority beyond the sway she holds over the sitting Monarch. The history of the position is one of variance, as the nature of the role changed with virtually each Monarch. In the case of Exeter; King Monarch the first, he and his Queen were forced upon each other. Adriel, Queen Matriarch The First, had fought alongside Exeter during The Salvatican Revolution as a Sage, and one of his closest friends. But they both knew that Exeter's heart belonged to Lady Vixal. A Felonian experiment in hybridization, Exeter's supporters refused to accept Lady Vixal as a potential Queen. Under great pressure from all sides, he accepted Adriel. It's not exactly known if she was Devon's mother, but she raised him as his own. While Devon is the one who did away with the most vocal and dangerous threats that plagued his father's throne, he's also the one who seriously complicated the throne of Matriarch. It was assumed during Exeter's reign that there would be only one Queen of Salvatica at any one time, but Devon soon did away with this notion. The second Monarch, and the first to be born into the title, Devon was entranced by the excesses of the role and took a record number of Queens. Sixteen of them. Though he fathered children with all of them, it was decided that Cornwall would be next in line for the title of Monarch. Cornwall was the opposite of his father when it came to marriage. He wanted only a single Queen, but took two others under the urging of his supporters to not appear feeble in the eyes of the people. Inisha, Queen Matriarch the eighteenth became Salvatica's most powerful. She held a great degree of sway over Cornwall, The Monarch going on record during his last days saying that she was the only reason why he didn't take his own life following his failed campaigns in Bull Head and central and southern Salvatica. Inisha used her sway with Cornwall to bring some stability back to the title of Matriarch, and imposed limits on the numbers of Queens that could hold the title at any one time, and while she was unable to secure any political authority for her crown, she was able to do away with many of the threats to the position by making all current and future Queens exempt from any authority except Monarch's direct will. This played a key role when Topsham, King Monarch the fourth was killed in a Felonian nuclear strike on Salvatica. His only Queen, Parmelia; Queen Matriarch the twenty first survived his death, and found herself in hot water. Salvatica was in ruin, it's people in panic, and everyone who was anyone had their eyes on her crown.. Desperate, but clever, she allied herself closely with the Royal Guard, and, making use of Inisha's foresight, she was able to capitalize on her exemption from Salvatica law and greatly strengthen that organization to provide her with the protection and control she so desperately needed. The close ties she forged between Queen and Royal Guard remain to the present. Parmelia is also one of the few people in Salvatica who knew if Durandel was of Exeter's line, a distant relative, or of an entirely new line, but it's a secret she took to her grave. Durandel; King Monarch the fifth and his Queen, Bernice; Queen Matriarch the twenty second, worked closely with everyone to speed the reconstruction of Salvatica that Durandel had started. They became famed for their cooperation, which is a tradition Durval; King Monarch the sixth and Cessillia; Queen Matriarch the twenty third carried on. At first. That was before Noric appeared before Monarch, and literally promised him the world. Matriarch now finds herself at odds with The King, who's rapidly taking the country back to a level of militaristic focus greater than that seen during the time of Cornwall.

Interesting picture. Real nice outfit on her too. Nice back story on all these Matriarchs as well. I wonder, do the queens have a similar naming convention to the kings? I guess they don't have to, as it's not like they are all of one line or anything.

No naming convention for The Queens, making them some of the only characters who don't have one. Thanks for commenting.
