Description Photo 1 of 3

My little Mom made this tile mosaic design for this
coffee table.....51 years ago! As you can see,
I still have it in 2010....

Thanks, it's made of "found" random peaces of ceramic tile!

Thats cool, I like the way the texture of the tiles creates the image of wind.

Thanks Adam, I think that was the point!
I unscrewed the legs and hung it on the wall!
It's been that way for many years.

Looking at it the design is perfect for hanging on the wall. The wood surface is almost like a frame.
I can see a lot of similarities to your art style in this.

Thank you Adam! My Mom said that she wished that she designed and made it
for the wall. She would have made it with high and low, thick and thin tile
instead of this. It had to be kinda smooth for a table-top. It didn't work
very well as a table...oh well, "live and learn"! "But by the time you've learned,
it's too late to live"!....So she used to say!

Wise words. But why sacrifice beauty for functionality.

Well?....If I understand your question correctly....In this case,
uneven tile, no matter how pretty the pattern design, does not make
for a very good table surface. It was hard to keep clean and felt
clumsy putting a cup on that uneven hard surface. My Mom thought it
would've been a better tile composition, hung on a wall, than a table...
She was somewhat unhappy with the tile design. Maybe She could have
done a uneven-rougher mosaic with the high-low layout (she preferred)
and had thick clear glass floating over the tile area, supported at the edges only.
I would've had the thick glass extend flush to the outer edges of the
wood borders. Ya know what I mean? After all, form should follow function!
