one time when i was younger i knew this young couple down the road from me semi good. good enough to know he was a plumer, and she was an RN(Big money to a three time loser like me), well I may not have a med-school degree, but I know a thing or 3 about getting into places that happen to be locked....
I knew they was planing to go out that night, but I sadly didn't know His wife didn't feel much up to going out when the time came to leave, so i didn't know that she was in bed reading when i entered their home. as you can guess I was caught, but thankfully i heard her coming down the steps, so i got in the fridge and started drinking the first beer i could get my hands on that with a little acting, some fake tears while i pined about my X-GF, and PRESTO it went from her walking in on a botch robbery too her finding me "Drunk, and confused". Instead of being greeted with fear and hostility I received Sympathy, and ride home...
The moral of this story is. Criminals Pray on kindness of empathetic people...
If she shows him a gental hand, and lets him go He won't suddenly soften up, and turn over a new leaf. It will just make her a sucker... Nice guys finish last..

Given that, when talking to a mixed group, people use the male plural; in that universe, it's the female plural.
