Love the picture... looks like a magazine shot... great job!

Ahh yes finally the Hornady Critical Defense...
I wonder if they plan on making these for .40?!
I'm grabbed a couple of extra boxes of the TAP ammo for my .40 and my .45, need to get some nice pics up on Deviant Art too... you've inspired me.

Good to hear.

I dont think they'll ever make the Critical Defense any bigger because the larger slower bullets are less susceptible to being clogged by clothing or leather than are lighter faster bullets.

Ahh, I didn't know that.
So basically you're looking for maximum expansion for the faster 9mm round so as not to over penetrate?

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-10-30 21:12:26 +0000 UTC]

Well any hollow point round won't overpenetrate (in theory), but in winter when clothing is thicker, items like layers, jackets, weatherproofing, most hollowpoints fail to expand under these circumstances. Therefore the Critical Defense was created to prevent this problem.

I like to see it as having "seasonal ammo".

Ahh I see now. Thanks for the input.

"Seasonal ammo"... that's a good one... so "happy hollowdays"

Now you've done it, I'm going to start using that.

Feel free to do so

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-04 06:56:18 +0000 UTC]

Ok.

HAPPY HOLLOWDAYS!

(I doubt many people will get it.)

Happy Hollowdays to you too... and some merry new gear (Nightforce for that Remington maybe!?)

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-04 10:01:10 +0000 UTC]

ACTUALLY..a Dillon XL650.

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-04 10:44:17 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh... I see, I see.

I'm asking Santa for a nice weapon light for my glock 17 and maybe a Glock 26 if he's got the money

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-04 11:39:10 +0000 UTC]

And by Santa you mean that papery stuff in your wallet?

The Nightforce is going to have to wait for quite a while.

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-04 11:44:59 +0000 UTC]

That's the one!

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-04 13:13:25 +0000 UTC]

Well when I have a lot jumping out of my wallet, I'll put it towards the Nightforce. Until then, I have the feeling this Dillon and its bajillion accessories are going to eat up my budget.

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-04 23:49:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah maybe so, but it will also end up paying for itself I would imagine.

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-05 11:31:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I was thinking about the 550B instead, but I figured if I'm buying one, buy big and buy once. At first $550 isn't so bad, but add a quick-change tool head, $100. Then a caliber conversion, $80. UGH.

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-06 10:48:33 +0000 UTC]

That's what I always say, spend the money and only buy once... works for me
I'm going to have to start reloading if I keep running through all this .45 ACP like I have been.

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-07 00:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Well with a running rate of 1000 rounds per hour, I only have enough materials to sustain that rate for about..20 hours haha..

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-07 02:06:40 +0000 UTC]

Now that would be one fun day... with 4 hours left to sleep

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-07 03:41:07 +0000 UTC]

Now see that is not a problem! I only sleep 90 minutes a day.

Ah man! You too?

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-07 10:01:01 +0000 UTC]

Actually I stopped this past week, it was really starting to catch up with me and wreaking some havoc with my body. Finally trying to sleep full nights!

MrPorter In reply to GlockGuy [2009-11-08 09:02:18 +0000 UTC]

I don't maybe I have insomnia or something... or maybe sleeping bores me too much

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GlockGuy In reply to MrPorter [2009-11-08 12:00:36 +0000 UTC]

Sleep is a waste of time really, and it gives me too much time to think. I dont think Ive slept a full night in years.

How much did that set you back? My local shop is limiting "defensive" ammo purchases.

Nice photo though.

GlockGuy In reply to Tatsumi67 [2009-10-23 09:00:42 +0000 UTC]

$19 or so?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tatsumi67 In reply to GlockGuy [2009-10-23 13:36:52 +0000 UTC]

not bad.

GlockGuy In reply to Tatsumi67 [2009-10-26 06:21:12 +0000 UTC]

Its good to get it from a distributor like Midway, if you buy it from a gun store I would expect to pay at least $25 for the same box.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tatsumi67 In reply to GlockGuy [2009-10-26 18:26:27 +0000 UTC]

yeah that a price I was thinking of.
