Here is one of Ravenheart Chronicle's main characters, Miriam, as a child, with her mother Malva. She is playing kantele, a finnish zither/harp, an instrument that is practically all they own on top of the clothes they're wearing. As druids (a feature shown visibly due to their face tattoos) they are not welcome to most settlements in the East and North, as they are thought no more than witches. despite being nothing of the like. Prejudice and the cold hearts of those who would be able to help them only keeps the mother and child closer to each other, and there is no one in the whole Land that Miriam loves more than her mother.
