I wouldn't say worse than the original. Just would say your version of the original.
As my daughter (who is an artist as well) always tells me... Some are meant to look just like the person and some are meant to not look just like the person. All that matters is that you try and you learn.

There's no doubt you have talent! Recommendation: Brian Duey has some tutorials on his website you might find helpful if your goal is realism. You are certainly going to be one to keep an eye on- that's for sure! Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
