This had to be done. This is honestly the reason I love this guy so much. He basically has all the charisma and humor of an old school Disney villain and an amazing song to boot. Besides, who doesn't love a David Bowie-esque crab?

maybe some mini comics as well, i'm totally abord this moana x tamatoa train. i know a person with good shipping taste when i see them. it will also push me to to do something that isn't typical for Disney fans. you know the always go to the lion king( i know that and Balto has a huge fan based.) something to get me out of the comfort zone.

hmm...yes well as far as i seen and this isn't to say everyone is doing this. Tamatoa seems to be suffering sexualization as a personality by some or most of the fans. He's not the only character though, i've seen this happen to tons of characters.
Don't get me wrong i know why and what the cause of it is. the music video Shiny was my first introduction to him and Moana as a whole ( still haven't seen the movie yet) and i thought this was his talking voice as well, until i saw a video that had clips before he started singing. I'm going to say that Jemaine Clement is hands down Disney's best singer right next to Phil Collins.( unless-you know..you want to count Beyoncé)

Jemaine clement voice is like silk and he probably should do a cover song of Latch Disclosure feat sam smith. ( but we don't need the fan girls passing out to their favorite crab singing that in their ear know do we)
Anyway, when i heard Tamatoa's talking voice i was like-wow!...he sound's like an old pirate. an old New Zealand pirate. everything about him was great from his facial expressions to surprise to see a human ( i mean he wasn't even angrily looking at her, like most monster would do) , to his fascination of Moana's necklace. his dead-pan face and him trying to look at her. his stupid mocking face and him telling Moana he ate his grandma ( and to be real with you his accent was so thick ..heh , heh i thought he said.)
" what ave we here." rather than " what have we here?" he still sounds like a pirate. then he done made the cutest face when he said " i will gladly do so!"
like that is legit someone who is troll would do make you think one thing only to hit you with something else.
tamatoa is fun. he's a fun character.
now his voice when he sings and trust me it is fascinating , impressive if you sound like a old swashbuckling pirate who looks derpy as all heck and sound like the sexiest man on earth.
i don't know i feel like some humor is lost when fans deal with characters like these , and i'm saying they can't do they want. i love cute , tough as nails , smug smiling, probably making you feel weird character..i feel like you can do more with him.
Also i don't know who Disney thinks they're fooling but this character was Not for the younger child audience with all the fourth wall breaking he was doing.( he probably was for the older audience too)

Moana as an entire movie is decent. It's rather low-key compared to say Zootopia or classics such as The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast which I grew up on and adored. However, as you've probably already guessed--Tamatoa is my favorite part of the movie. He's only in it for 5 minutes--but he's the part that I wasn't expecting. I love him more because he gives off classic Disney villain vibes--you know, where the villain is clearly the villain from the very beginning and not a "surprise" villain such as a lot of the ones in more recent Disney and Pixar movies.
As for Tamatoa's singing voice--well, have you ever seen the movie "FernGully: The Last Rainforest?" There's a villain in it called Hexxus. Much like Tamatoa, Hexxus should not be viewed as sexy. However, he's voiced by Tim Curry and when he sings? Yeah, it sounds more like a song from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" not an animated kids' movie about saving the rainforest.
Tamatoa basically reminds me of Hexxus in that manner. He's not supposed to be sexy--but his voice sounds like a combination of Tim Curry (some people almost thought he was voiced by Tim Curry at first) and David Bowie (which is who Clement is impersonating while he's singing as "Shiny" is a tribute to Bowie.) Thanks, Disney for making me have a crush on a giant psychotic glitter crab.

yeah, however tamatoa is special. unlike most Disney villains even though he more of antagonist than a villain.
he contradicts himself, he doesn't need the shiny objects to shine. he does that in the way walks, his strut, his sassy new Zealand flare.
he had it all along. i love him and his big stupid crooked under bite grin.

Here's how I think it would be: Tamatoa’s entire body is invulnerable, except for his head. Attacking anywhere else will cause a cling sound effect and deals no damage. He will sty to attack Sora by stomping his feet, and grabbing him with his claws. Tamatoa’s legs will eventually get stuck in the ground after stomping, giving Sora an opportunity to attack. Attacking a leg enough times will cause that leg to get chopped off, but it won’t deal damage to the crab. When all the legs get chopped off, Tamatoa will be unable to move.

Actually, patricide means the killing of one's father if we're going to get technical here. We don't actually know if he killed his grandmother, but we do know he ate her.

I admit it!!!! He's actually my fave in the movie, his running time isn't even ten minutes!
But his voice actor did an amazing job playing Nigel from Rio and Rio 2 though as well!
