There are different definitions of recolours in the Sonic fandom. Some people call characters recolours if they have unoriginal designs (aka Shadow the Hedgehog) because the only obvious differences would be the quill directional design and chest fur. Besides, wasn't he meant to look like a recolour for plot reasons in SA2? (So that GUN would misunderstand Shadow as being Sonic) :0

Plus, edits mean recolours with extra features. There can be good edits.
