Description The Terran Navy. The single most efficient naval power in the entirety of Explored space. A marvel of human engineering and leader of military weapons technology. The Terran Navy is truly a force to be reckoned with.
Though it's size does not match that of the Xenos, or Confederate, it makes up for the lack of force with some of the most accurate and precise canons available sports some of the finest armor of all the nations, and has some of the most effective and disciplined crew available. Their ships are the perfect blend of maneuverability, armor, and firepower. It's tactics unmatched and their leadership unwavering they are ready to answer the call of the Federations whenever necessary. If you ever find yourself in combat with a Terran Navy, one must remain extremely cautious as the Terrans are known to feign retreat or withdrawals, only to lure unsuspecting fleets into a larger waiting force; or pulling a defensive in efforts to have the enemy come to them instead of them fighting the enemy on their turf. Even the Terrans famous Blitzkrieg tactics must always be in mind. In historical battles of the past, the Terran navy has been known to repel forces 5 times of it's size

However, no army is ever without an Achilles heel. For the Terrans, it is that of their doctrine, and the looming threat of over-expanding their armies. The Terrans have always been known to play defensively. The past 200 years have shown this. They believe they have everything they currently need and then some, so the addition of any territory would just require their army to sacrifice more soldiers for an outside prospect. They have kept to themselves, only having an army large enough to adequately defend it's borders, and an offensive naval force in reserve for when it's necessary. If their armies become strained, their effectiveness at holding the line could easily falter, and they would be forced to withdrawal their front-line further back to shorten the length required for them to hold.
The other is their doctrine. Protocols of military strategy and tactics that they have been commonly known to use, as well as procedures to follow in certain military situations. This doctrine has never been leaked, but it is known that they possess it. In the wrong hands, the enemy could adequately predict and counter the Terran strategy.

With this being said, fighting defensively is still not recommended. They are known to adapt to enemy tactics rather quickly. The key is to fight cautiously, being mindful of the battleground, the surrounding objects/asteroids, and the Terran Navy's initial approach.

But this tactic does not work for ever nation. The Xenos and the Staevik are such examples. However they will be continued upon at a later date.

-Excerpt from "The Art of Modern Warfare: The Free Nations"  by J. LANDE

-----------------------

Ships from the Terran 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Fleets. All part of the newly formed Terra Offensive Armada and all being bolstered with a large amount of additional ships. (As well as the 4th, 5th, and technically 6th. The 4th, 5th and 6th are not shown for specific Reasons)

-The 1st Fleet: known as "the Pride of Terra". The fleet with the single most combat experience in all of the Terran federation. It's the fleet that specifically houses High General Helmar and his personal elite guard whenever they are to invade a planet or be transported.

-The 2nd Fleet: it houses more carriers and support vehicles than any of the other 5 fleets in the armada, and is commonly used for a supportive role for the Armada, provided a large amount of fighters and bombers as well as smaller ships like gunboats and corvettes in combat.

-The 3rd Fleet: The "Crimson Guard" Fleet. It's ships have been refit with some of the heaviest and advanced firepower the Terran military currently has available.

-The 4th Fleet: The "Black Fleet" [INFORMATION REDACTED]

-The 5th Fleet: A rear reserve fleet that has ships on standby to repair or replace any ships that fall out of the other four fleets.

-The 6th Fleet:  [4̢0̡4͞  N̵̦̤̪O̲̳͎̻̞̝̯T̛̞̥͓͇ ͓̝̪̕F̦͎̭̪͍̫ͅO̴͍̬̘̰̪͙̤UN̞̘͚̞͉͠D͎͚͕̱͉͚͉]͔̝̪̯̦ͅ //REDIRECTING TO 5TH FLEET. PLEASE STAND BY//

-----------------------------------------------

There are no specific measurements for the ships yet, but know that that landing craft is supposed to be around the length of a c-130 (give or take a few meters. But that is subject to change once I do final measurements)
There are numerous other fleets, however, these are the first to be part of the Offensive armada
Battleship, Battle Carrier, micro carrier, Dread, and other support vessels have been left out, and I will cover at a later date.

For now, enjoy the Ships of the Terran Navy

The Terran Federation here is part of my setting.

Coincidentally I have a fleet call the Terrna Confederation I'd like to update their ships designs.

I'd be very happy to use your Ships of the Terran Navy  with just some colour scheme changes..  Could be some collaborative CCC? what do you think?

I try and keep the stuff for my "The Colonists" setting in that setting alone as I do plan on trying to do something more with it down the line and I would not want the same ships and armor whatnot floating around in other settings

I'm glad that you like them though and hope that you continue to follow my works

I would do some models of them if you have the time. I like the style. Did you use Illustrator? have messaged yout about about using some for my Terran COnfederation cards designs..

I actually have been modeling the ships on my own accord in Maya 2018, there's been slight changes to break up the silhouettes a little more, but the basic design elements are there.

I have indeed seen the message and responded accordingly, thank you for asking though

Schism-Walker [2016-04-07 14:28:23 +0000 UTC]

How do you do these? do you start off with a rough 3D blockout and draw the lineart over to get the proportions correct or is it purely by hand? Also very remincent of I think its 's work and is style I'd very much like to try!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Schism-Walker [2016-04-07 14:38:45 +0000 UTC]

I Sketched out the first ship which was the cruiser, ended up deciding to try and making the whole fleet from there so I just went down thew line and resized the sketches in photoshop and redrew over in detail. Daemonia? You mean Daemoria? I actually used to follow that guy before he started working in almost nothing but porn. Needless to say there was a falling out because I didn't really respect him anymore.
The style is fun though, very sketchy but It pays off when you're not trying to get super detailed. But yes I've done the 3D blocks before in another more complete image here: goeliath.deviantart.com/art/Dr…
which I found was just so much nicer looking

Love how aggressive these look.

Actually, while we seem to be on topic, have you ever read Niklas Jansson's blog post on spaceship design? androidarts.com/spaceships/spa…
Found it extremely thought provoking, myself. ^^

goeliath In reply to Durendal5150 [2016-02-04 22:59:59 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Though i've been told they have a look thats almost too similar. I may have to redesign some of the smaller ships for variation. idk on that yet.
ANyway thanks! They're suppose to look aggressive. The Federation don't fuck around when it comes to warfare.

I saved that link for later use too! thanks!

Durendal5150 In reply to goeliath [2016-02-06 16:37:56 +0000 UTC]

Welcome! I can kinda see them being a little too close together at first glance. Maybe making the fins on the larger vessels look more structural and less aerodynamic, and accentuating them more on the smallest? Just an idle thought.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Durendal5150 [2016-02-06 20:38:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I'm definitely thinking about 'redesigning' them to add just a few more diffences on them.
The larger ships are more for structural as they're too large to enter the atmosphere of planets. Plus they add a nice intimidation factor

Durendal5150 In reply to goeliath [2016-02-07 00:33:51 +0000 UTC]

Right! I'd meant more in look than in function... I guess I'd have to sketch out what I mean, I'm awful at explaining visual stuff. <.<

Tevo77777 [2015-10-30 21:39:48 +0000 UTC]

Ugg, I forgot that slanted armor protects better.

I've been racking my brain about what a good destroyer would look like for months now and I've torn between a sorta "Acclamator" class ship (like the one from Star-Wars without the stupid bridge.) and maybe a rectangle that is slanted a bit in the front.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Tevo77777 [2015-10-31 01:51:10 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I liked the slanted armor idea for the ships here, wanted to stick with it!

I've got some other designs like that rectangle one siting around in my vault of concepts, but haven't gotten around to finishing them. I'm just one man haha

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tevo77777 In reply to goeliath [2015-10-31 09:33:26 +0000 UTC]

What I thought about was that if the ship has any parts that stick out to much, they can easily be shot off.

So you want to make a big block to keep all the parts protected.

But then if the ship suffers from drag, as even nothing can slow you down if you go fast enough.

Also comets and gas giants.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Tevo77777 [2015-11-16 03:50:33 +0000 UTC]

There's not too much that sticks out on these ones. Sure they get a tad bit skinnier by the head, but it's not too skinny to where it's a hazard.

And the Staevik Navy is the one for big blocks, lol

Daemoria [2015-08-10 09:39:19 +0000 UTC]

"Crimson Lance" and "New Harmot" are my favorite designs on this page. The other capital ships are certainly identifiable as belonging to the Terran Navy, but they don't have too much distinct major features to separate them. The carrier looks similar to the cruiser, and the destroyer and frigate are almost interchangeable at a quick glance.

Design aside, these are some very nicely rendered ships. The detailing is pretty damn consistent across all of them, and I really do like the color scheme you chose for the various fleet divisions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Daemoria [2015-08-12 14:06:12 +0000 UTC]

There were a couple of different designs. They may surface as a newer or older model of ship, but these are essentially it. It's all to give a very uniformed look. And the frigate and Destroyer I'm aware look very similar.

There are a lot more fleets out there with different color schemes, but they are largely defensive fleets that are designated to protect their assigned system.
Thanks though. took a bit of work to make sure all the windows and lights were the same size, but it came out nicely

Shabazik [2015-08-02 19:25:21 +0000 UTC]

Really an awesome work. Is a delight to browse you gallery and see the advance in techniche and designs in the last years and time, and how as well you began to develope characteristic designs for the different nations.

The use of strange letters in descriptions and such things as form of writing, make me think of Daemoria... is the Laughing Swarm or simil around your universe as well hanging around, or instead you drawn inspiration of Daemoria's use of these strange symbols to denote alien?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goeliath In reply to Shabazik [2015-08-03 15:58:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I'm really trying to get better that's for sure. As for the Nations I had to do it eventually, else people still run by misconceived notions about how they work.

You mean in the description? It's something that corrupts the words, not exactly being a symbol or anything. But yes I did essentially learn it from him. I told Daemoria to keep the Laughing swarm out of TC, so they shouldn't be showing up. I wanted nothing to do with them.
The symbols here are purely meant to illustrate corrupted files, words, documents, etc. whenever some form of digital corruption is present. There's no aliens here except one species afterall, and they're not too advanced to work with our technology.

Terrans don't like non Terrans running around with their military equipment. They like to keep it to themselves. You know the 'Terran Supremecy' and all that.

If you want a Yacht I know ALMEC makes some pretty decent space popsicle-yachts!
