Very interesting piece here. That aide there is probably a bit too cocky for his own good, threatening a Eliph with blackmail like that. The possibilities that it brings up are intriguing tho. How would a blackmail actually pan out... somehow I think some people would end up 'disappearing' before word ever got out.
Its an neat thing to note that while the Staevik nation didn't really come out on top in the Xenon conflict, their training and hardware is still a force to be reckoned with, enough so that the other nations are resorting to subterfuge in order to balance out the factors in their favor.

The Aids knows what he's doing. They're a very Nazi-esque party, and just like the Nazis did when rising to power, blackmail, extortion, and threats are what keep them in control. He's not the only one with that plan. The only issue is Eliph has friends in high, and very wealthy places.
Staevik weaponry is highly sought after for the sheer force and damage it causes. Though they weren't the forefront leaders in military technology, they still had the greatest firepower and still do to date. And a fleet of their ships just sitting within your own borders is definitely a prize worth going after.

Yep. Things would be a lot happier all around without politics.
And considering how stupidly expensive starships would be to construct, you'd definitely want to recycle and refit as much as possible.

Yeah. The superpowers have the money to be able to afford newer vessels, as well as a few of the smaller ones, but most of the nations and colonies rely on refitting old ones.
Some colonies use starships 400 years old

That's pretty much how my universe works. If it can be used, it is. People in mine have been in space for a a bit over 3000 years, so there's 3000 years worth of history, wars, junked civilizations, and armories to wade through, never mind all the stuff that's even older from alien civilizations long vanished.

only 700 years here. But it was a fast advancement. I just looked how quickly we evolved to our current state from the medieval ages and kinda went with that. The only thing hindering humanity from reaching that "golden age" of space travel is the fact that we're still so very splintered, and the guys that basically run the show on space exploration (UCR) is too afraid of overexpansion that could lead to another rebellion, which is essentially happening anyway.
still a good amount of armories to wade through after the Colonial Rebellion, and the First Xeno-Terran War. Thems be sum guuud pickings

Originally mine was going to be 1000 years from now, but I switched it up to take place in 5500 A.D. That gives me a lot of time to play with for history that allows for more realistic interstellar travel and more widespread advancement.

The situation is worse than I thought, Comrade. The NUSSR will be joining the Confederacy, and will give all the economic and military support they can.

Speaking of which I have the rough draft of the image. It's pretty much next in line to get drawn.
Hey, a new voice in the Confederate Senate could always help bring down the Nationalists... (unless you support them?)
But military support is always needed.

Excellent, Comrade!
And the Nationalists? Such policies are.... not in the scope of that the NUSSR believes. If the Confederacy Senate calls for it, the Rodina will cast them down, through word, then fire and steel if need be.
As for military support, the NUSSR will send what it can. Naval vessels, ground troops, all that can be sent, will.

Politics. I do love me some politics. Looks real good dude and provides a pretty interesting insight into the current political situation in the Confederacy.

Politics SUCK! That's why confederacy will largely not be seen in any story for a while. Only in singular stand-alone pictures, until their time is called.
But yeah. Nationalists are Nazi-esque fucks man. And they own like 50% of the senate

I enjoy politics once in a while, but too much of it and its just like hnnnnnng so I can respect that.
Well, I guess the nationalists taking over would at least make the Confederacy easy to dislike.

Yeah. :/ Just not too exciting for me.
It's also one of the reasons they hate everyone else. It's like germany and how they were like "gaaaah! we want ur land! it's ours now!" before wwII and up into wwII.
Still, glad you liked it!

It's always nice to do reversals of stereotypes or other ideas.
He's a rich guy, works for even richer guys as a senator who is a paid for lobbyist. He has some resemblance to Loki from the "Thor" movies, and "Avengers", especially with that 'techno-laurel' head thing he's got going on, just sort of says: evil!

It is!
I thought that too after I made him. Im thinking "this guy seems really familiar, but I can't quite put a finger on it..."
Though, who knows, it's still early on in the game. He could be evil, but nobody else really knows if he is except me.
