c. 67 million years ago, Amur Region, Far Eastern Russia

An adult male Olorotitan in full breeding regalia wades through a shallow river. The fossil skeleton of this 8 metre long lambeosaurine was discovered in 1999 near the town of Kundar and is currently housed at the Amur Natural History Museum in Blagoveschensk. It is as yet the most complete Russian dinosaur skeleton ever found.

This is beautiful. It looks and has the feel of not-quite Classical, the background reminds me of something: maybe Impressionism but not quite. The whole piece is something that is really beautiful and rich and dark with a bright male to off-set the piece. It's technical but not on an insane-level. I can almost imagine this male walking through the river of my woods.

I don't know why but this painting is so so... moving. It's really very different from any others of Olorotitan that I've scene. I love it and I'll stop babbling now. Stunning work sir.

Thanks. This is one of the rare pieces that I just did on the spur of the moment one morning (hence the lack of the excessive detailing in some of my other works) so the ambience probably reflects what I was feeling at the time.

Really? I don't think I see too many paintings or drawings of dinosaurs that are just made for personal enjoyment. That makes this all the more special then. It is beautiful and I would love to see more pieces like this. I'm all for accuracy but sometimes... I miss the art behind the science.

Very pretty, which is something you don't often see in non-avian dinosaur art.
