So, by chance, I recently stumbled across this YouTube video: [link]
It's a compilation of trailers for a Japanese card-based Arcade Game called "Dragon Ball Heroes". Maybe it was the absurdly catchy theme song, maybe it's the shiny new animated scenes, but something about this video really put me in a "Dragon Ball" mood so strong that an entire story sort of began to take shape in my head.

Obviously, there are only small fragments of story within the trailers themselves, and I wasn't interested in the old "ordinary kid sucked into a video game" routine, so instead I basically made an entire "Dragon Ball" AU in my head. You may be hearing more about that later, but for now it's not yet entirely complete, and I only mention it here so you understand why these characters and their stories may not necessarily match "Dragon Ball" canon.

Anyway, in the center we have Serui (the girl in blue) and Keiru (the boy in red), modeled after the male and female Saiya-Jin heroes from the "Dragon Ball Heroes" game. A pair of young Saiya-jin siblings rescued from the destruction of Planet Vegeta by an enigmatic individual who delivered them into the care of Piccolo, who became their teacher and raised them to be strong fighters. Both have a deep-seated love of Martial-Arts and are always seeking ways to challenge themselves and each other, but where Keiru approaches fighting with a wide-eyed Romanticism, Serui approaches fighting with a ferocious determination.

In the upper left is Buu-Boy, modeled after the Majin hero from the "Dragon Ball Heroes" game. Created by Majin Buu from a piece of Buu's very body, Buu-boy was told by Majin Buu to go out and explore the universe, then report back to him with everything he has learned. Like his creator, Buu-Boy has a child-like demeanor: playful and energetic, with a natural curiosity. He is also intensely loyal to Majin Buu, and can be very selfish sometimes.

In the upper right is Icer, modeled after the Frizea Race Hero from the "Dragon Ball Heroes" game. Hailing from Planet Frieza, Icer was banished from his home-world by Emperor Frieza himself for speaking out against the Emperor's plans for universal conquest. Though embittered by this experience and nursing a burning grudge against Emperor Frieza, Icer nonetheless maintains his deepseated sense of right and wrong, and will always do his best to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

In the lower left is Miruku, loosely modeled after the female Human from the "Dragon Ball Online" game. A young human Martial-Artist, she has recently begun her first sojourn around the world to expand her ability after spending years training under the great Masters Yamcha, Kuririn, and Tenshinan and learning their many techniques. Always eager to learn and experiment, she is soft-spoken around others but swift and fierce on the battlefield. While she can use the Bukujutsu technique to fly, she prefers to ride the Kinto'un, with which she has a good friendship.

In the lower right is Android 81, a character of my own design. One of an entire army of experimental Androids created by the evil Dr. Gero, she was kept along with her siblings in suspended animation awaiting the day Gero would unleash them to conquer the world, but a mysterious malfunction awoke her, at which point she promptly escaped. She is now constantly on the run from Gero's pet hunter Cell. With a cool demeanor and a calculating mind, Android 81 is naturally distrustful of others and does her best not to speak or socialize, and if she has to fight, she will do so with brutal efficiency.
