  ⋆ born as second child to two monster hunters, not because they wanted children, but more because they needed another generation to carry on the 'trade' of killing supernaturals before they also bit the dust like the rest of the hunters from theirs.
  ⋆ parents were never very loving or accepting, and didn't see the point in really anything other than hunting and 'making the world a better place' or whatever.
  ⋆ Andy naturally, was never very attached to their family, and realized from a pretty young age that they were just future cannon fodder for an unending fight, rather than an individual with feelings and goals.
  ⋆ got into quite a few fights with their parents, usually ending in parents insisting that once they were killed by monsters [as was inevitable in this line of work, apparently] Andy would understand the need for it and be more driven to follow in their footsteps. They also guilted Andy with how their own parents never lived long enough to even teach them the art in the first place, and Andy should be grateful they had parents to teach them.
