Description I got back from vacation a few days ago. I travelled up to Northern Michigan to go camping. I snapped a lot of pictures while I was there but my favorites were the night shots of the Mackinac Bridge. For those that aren't familiar with this bridge, it connects the upper and lower penninsulas of Michigan.

I really like this shot out of the two, I think the contrast is wonderful in this shot as well and still having some background detail left. Great composition.

Thank you. I wasn't sure which one I liked better. I like the blue sky of the other one...but yeah, I was leaning towards this one too.

No problem I'm finding, as I grow older, Michigan isn't as lame as I once thought it was. Thanks

Thank you! I think the long exposure pictures are so cool looking. It makes the water look smoother and exaggerates reflections coming off the water. It makes the colors much more vibrant too which I like. Yeah, play around with it!

Here's something for you to play with - I recently posted a photo [link] where I used a technique I read in Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson (I recommend this book). You take a landscape scene toward dusk, tilt the camera up so that 90% of the view finder is on the ski, take your light reading and adjust your settings from this view, then lower the camera and take the shot. This accentuates the colors in the ski and mutes the foreground just a little. I think it turns out pretty cool.
