Description PLEASE OPEN FULL
The Ozark Hills. We call these mountains! LOL. Compared to many ranges in the country the Ozarks are probably the lowest in height. However, the Ozarks is one of the oldest mountain ranges in North America. At one time, millions of years ago they were like the Rocky Mountains, but weather has eroded the rock, and trees took over. The Arkansas Canyon, in this area, at its glory a million years ago, was twice the size of the Grand Canyon in Arizona ,and twice as deep. Deep in the forest of these hills are deep rock canyons and many high waterfalls. I hope to eventually hike to these. You can't use a a truck or SUV that can get to them.

In the first comment by *chrisntheboat I like his reference the "Deliverance" movie. I
hike with a 9mm and a small back-up 38 special. We need to watch out for mountain
lions in our wilderness areas, not people. Mike.

Thanks very much my friend. Hey, I have never been in the Blanchard Springs area. I've heard about the caves. Are there any caves that you can explore, without a guide or pay to see??

Caves you walk through on your own I believe, but that was back in 1986!
