Description ... okay.
shot.. on the great wall as you can see, in july 2005. the red dot is my stepfather. never really quite thought about that, i mean, this man is my stepdad, and this day, we had had the same relation as always, sarcastic jokes, some "are you alright"s during the climbing of the mountain to reach that point, some laughs when the children were saying something that only children say, a picnic in a tower, smelled like piss. at the exact moment i shot this, the rest of the family (my mother and my brother in her arms, and my three sisters) were walking toward him, and .. i don't know why i decided to frame that shot like that. maybe because i wanted to see my stepfather another way. just as a red dot, thinking.

scan of negative.

I love the shot.. and I adore your story with it. I really get what you did and maybe even some sort of why. I love it even if you only did it because he wore red and the rest of the scene is mostly green. Marvelous shot though, and the story is 'food for thought'.

Wow, which area of the Great Wall was this? When I went, I went on a tour so we went to the touristy spot. How was the experience?

great view
is that where the great wall was broken off and ends there?

step parents are hard to get used to, i sure know this!

Gonzale In reply to YourFathersMustache [2005-10-20 07:41:29 +0000 UTC]

no, it doesn't end here. it continues as a wall, several towers later, and you can't walk on it, because the tope of the mountain is very sharp, but it becomes the wall as we know it several miles later.
my stepdad is great, it's just that i know him only for certain things, and that i never wondered.. before that.. what he could see and sense .

ya that is a hard one
i hope its getting better

as for the wall...ya! i like checking out the parts of the wall that are not finished or are falling apart, it shows that history and exposes the myths!

Wow, it reminds me romanticism in painting...Sure u know it but I like to speak..jaja: was a tendence of painters, writers, etc. They thought nature was incredible and superior, and that the human was so little and a shit...All painters represented their stuff like this: The big nature and a little person looking it, adoring it.

A lot of people killed theirself in the age...jaaj

Ever read 'National Geographic'? They used Kodachrome and gave the main guy on the photo something red to wear, and asked him 'to point the mountain'....

it's just thought provoking...that we're all like red dots, so small in such a universe so vast. and it just made me stop and just 'think'. truly great shot.

Pretty cool shot. I love how it fades out. And the red contrasts wonderfully with the green.

The description with it makes it even better.
