Final render of Two Lokis with the Statue of Liberty torch in the background to give the drawing a richer story and serves to provide a symbolic counterpoint to Loki-in-a-Suit-and-Tie holding the Tesseract. I wanted the visual contrast between the gigantic symbolic hand of freedom destroyed by a comparatively small-in-scale Loki's-hand-with-Tesseract, symbolizing absolute power and alien subjugation. The idea, too, is that you won't be able to tell which one is the real Loki versus his "double" since he is a master at duplicating himself.

I've always admired artists that can do a very rich detailed drawing and I thought I'd give it a try since I had never done one. It's also the first time I did a drawing in greyscale values prior to laying down color, a tip that the awesome Adi Granov uses to create his stunning masterpieces. Makes sense because if your drawing reads beautifully in value, it'll read beautifully in color. And your midtones and dark colors are already there once you start laying down your flats. It's really the best way and the most efficient way to approach a drawing but that doesn't mean it's not challenging. I think mentally you have to have the discipline to approach it this way. I know I struggle with it because a part of me wants to just lay down colors as quickly as I can because I get bored looking at a sketch in black & white. The greyscale/value technique is something I really need to work on.
