She looks very healthy and content. I can almost feel the warm sun on her skin. Is she tame and friendly? What do they raise the cows for at Beachtree? Is she a sort of pet? ( I haven't heard of many cows with names)

she's relatively friendly, but not terribly tame. she's still young and curious so it's easy to get close to her, but she's certainly not a pet. Beechtree is a producer of grass fed beef. sadly, the cows will go to slaughter when they're full grown and old enough. however, this sort of farm ensures that they live happy lives in good care, instead of being raised on lots and being fed all sorts of artificial crap.

It's an excellent portrait, what's even better is the fact that there isn't a tag in her ear! In my own personal opinion, seeing the tag takes away from the beauty of these bovines (lol I love that word)...the eyes are well lit, a very nice shot here!

if you look colsely at her left ear (to the right in the pick) you can see the hole where the tag was..sometimes they fall out or get ripped out...she did have one..but aparently heard that dom was in town and wanted a pick w/out one!

i never noticed that she didn't have a tag! lol. a lot of the cows there do, but not all of them. she's a very pretty little calf.

Awww! She's quite gorgeous, I must say - not to mention the lighting and composition of her face is wonderful. I like Devon cows and bulls (ha, I learned about all the breeds of cattle and horses in my veterinary assistant classes).

no. it depends more on the breed of cattle. we have bulls without horns and cows with them. actually, everywhere in the world EXCEPT the US pretty much ALL cattle have horns.
