Description
To steal a slogan from my home boy* Pete Wentz, 'Don't call it a comeback'.I always liked the concept for the original Chasing the Dragon piece that I did, but very quickly grew not to like the actual art. So I pulled a fast one and stole my own idea and made it better (I think).

I freaking love Kabuki makeup so hard, and Mister Bones looks great in it.
The contrast between the red and green is perfect too and not too intense, and I like how you incorporated the red shades into the smoke, along with the yellow tint <3
The composition is simple and really nice, too, the negative space seems utilized so well, especially with the dragon not being incredibly bold and all smokish and such
I love how you only shaded a little bit of his hair too, it looks so soft

Ahh, thank you! I actually worked pretty hard on this, from stylizing it and incorporating the Kabuki makeup to coloring it in a way that would showcase both Bones and the smoke.

I'm not sure why his eye make-up was confusing me so much. I stared at it for a good minute, as I was convinced that one of his eyes was slanting down instead of up. Now I can't see that illusion any more but his eyes are gorgeous.
I also quite like the way he is holding that pipe. And of course the huge and elaborate dragon coming out of it. The background is also very pretty, now that I look at it again.

That's awesome! I love the composition of where the dragon is located on the page, if that makes any sense, and the brocade-like background is particularly nice touch.

I apparently woke up determined to have a bad day today, but this made me smile. I love the colors together, both aesthetically and auditorily (<-made up my own adverb). There's something about his eye makeup that throws me a little for some reason. But as a whole the piece is genius, and sort of makes me want to take down all my Bones art out of sheer shame... I love the smoke, even though you had trouble with it at first. It came out all delicate and brilliant. I once again wish there was a SAI for Mac, so I could flail around in it helplessly as I currently do with Photoshop. The whole thing though, is just amazing. You're pretty much just wicked talented whether you believe me or not.

I pretty much used an excess of teal, so I'm very happy that you like it! Chinese dragons are such a pain for me to draw, but it's a little easier when I can cheat a bit by making it smokey. :]
A friend was very kind and helped me, it's not even hard so I'm looking forward to experimenting with texture more. SAI is really wonderful, it works similarly to a nice version of openCanvas I once had, but with a lot more options.
Definitely give it a try sometime.

Face paint! I was toying with the idea of putting a mask on his head, but didn't like how it looked, so slapped some Kabuki-esque makeup on him instead.

Masks are super difficult to draw well on a face. Because you have to make them look above the face. It's annoying. I'm no where near creating prospective right on drawings XD

the first thing that pops into my head is that the color palette is genius, like always. you have always had an eye for color schemes. mister b looks sensual, and him sporting a kimono supports that. my eyes keep traveling over to the smoke dragon. it looks so carefree. it's drawn well.
