Description (Sweet mother of monkey milk I finally finished) This is actually something I had to make for my drawing class...using only ink and water It's also one of the largest pieces I've ever made (22 in. x 30 in.). (I'm just glad we got the go-ahead to ink whatever we wanted)

I decided to try and depict a fairy/spirit that I believe used to haunt my house when I was a little girl. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, my family's house would smell like roses (which we never have in the house because floral scents bother my mother/her allergies) and my mum wouldn't be bothered by them. Even my dad (who would be probably the very last person on Earth to believe in anything supernatural) could smell them. I would also hear faint, tinkling music/chimes every so often throughout the house even when I was the only one home. I always liked to think that there was a fairy or guardian angel of some sort watching over our house. I am of the opinion that the rose smells and the music came from two different beings, but for the purposes of this assignment I toyed around with the idea that they were one and the same. I have named this fairy Hestia (after the goddess of the hearth and home).

Ooh this technique really suits your art style well, I love the darker tones you got in her hair!

Aww, thanks! That shift in tone in her hair actually happened on accident. It applied the ink and it appeared to be one solid tint, but when it dried...

That's so interesting about the spirit/fairy! I love the sepia tone of this by the way ;3

Glad you like her little story Thanks! It's actually a bit more black-white looking in real life, but my camera made it look sepia

I agree with Zima. I love the sepia tone in this as well. It's very pretty and it gives this piece a different feel from some of your other artwork. I also like the story about the guardian-spirit in your house. That's unique and I can see why you came up with that explanation for the "strange" smells and sounds in your home.

Aww, thank you!Funnily enough, that's not sepia, but black and white (since Ijust used black ink and water). I had to take a photo of the finished piece because it's way too big to scan, and so the photo kind of warped the light
I'm very fond of the story, though to be honest I feel as though she wandered away from the house a long while ago (sometime after I finished grade school, perhaps). Wherever she is, I hope she is safe and sound

Ohhh. Okay. Now I understand. The warped light was what made it look like sepia instead of black and white.

Aw! It's too bad that she wandered off. I hope that she's safe and sound in her current location as well.

Yep!aww:

I'd like to think that she got out of the house because she knew neither my mother nor I were going to be living there much longer and that she's taken up residence in the gorgeous rose garden around one of our favorite lakes instead. (The lake even has this one tree that has a little fairy-size living space carved out of it near the trunk. It even has a little old-fashioned door and knocker attached to the bark! People like to leave letters and trinkets in there, and the fairy answers the letters back!)

Ooh...this is kinda different with the thick lines and the sepia tone. You're really good at testing your limits with different media. That's a really sweet story. I'll believe in the little guardian-spirit fairy living in your home if no one else does.

It is a bit different, but I'm glad I got try my hand at using only ink and water. Aww, thanks! I'm at least trying to get better at pushing my limits with my media of choice The thick line was actually half of an accident, to be honest. The brush splurted some ink in the middle of a line, so I had to make it thicker to even it out It's definitely one of my favorite personal stories Thank you! Maybe if we believe in her enough, we'll see her, yes?

Absolutely lovely as always, Goss! I love the details and her clothes are positively gorgeous! Not to mention, her wings!

Your story in the description sounds pretty supernatural to me. That's amazing!

Thank you so much for your sweet comments (as always~)

I kind of wonder where our mysterious visitor has gone in recent years. The music and flower smells haven't come by for a long while
