I have always love having long hair too but the sad thing of getting older you tend to lose some hair as well it seems to be more difficult in maintaining long hair, that being my reason to do away with the hair.
On other hand your choice I feel is more difficult for your reasons but however you maintain a beautiful look that sure is unique and this could be a real heart stopper.
This is most likely one of my favorite of your recent images of you.
Your long nails adds a special to the overall of who you are. I feel a sensuality in ways unique and a magic that has you stand out alone of one I feel is beautiful in all ways of the word.

OK.. actually, it felt coming but it surprises anyway! I understand your reasons and I respect your choice: after all, it was your hair... But I must say that I liked your long and sensual hair. and that I find sad to maintain such hair for years to sacrifice it in twenty minutes... Now let's see what this will give this more masculine air...

Mmh… I really can't look at it that way, but that's because I've been toying with the idea of a drastic cut for months (although only abstractly, at the beginning) and then, when I went to have a talk with the hairdresser to ask her whether what I had in mind could be done with my hair and suit my face, I took a few weeks off to get fully used to the idea and do any unfinished business I could have with long hair. So, rather than a sudden, 20-minute thing, to me it felt more like the fulfillment of a long, patient – albeit silent – process.

And if I may ask, what is the feeling of your boyfriend on this drastic haircut? Did he have approved your choice ?
This beautiful hair was really part of your charms... but maybe that someday, you'll be ready again to let them push.

I don't have one, so I didn't have to answer for that to anyone. Although part of me wishes I did: there's so many photos just waiting for a romantic connection of sort to be taken, not to mention all the post-break up ones which will follow. From a purely artistic point of view, being single can be quite frustrating.

Sorry, I didn't want to hurt you. I was convinced that a handsome guy like you was necessarily a companion in his life... what a pity. As you say so, this would make fine portraits..

Don't worry, no hurt at all. As I said, it's only frustrating from an artistic standpoint, otherwise I'm quite fine like that.
